via press release:

Ten become eight, as our Top 10 dancers all fought for a coveted place in next weekend’s Quarter Final. Performing not one but two exhilarating routines in styles as diverse as Disco, Lyrical Hip Hop, Broadway, Charleston and Contemporary, the competition stepped up a gear as the pressure to win the votes of the judges and audience at home intensified.

With Nigel in America this weekend in his role as Executive Producer for the American Idol series finale, John Barrowman took up a temporary seat on the panel and Arlene stepped up as Head Judge, and after ten spectacular performances it was revealed that Katrina, Tom, Bethany Rose and Israel had the least number of audience votes and were in the ‘danger zone’, having to dance for their lives to stay in the game. With all four contestants dancing for their lives in 30 second solos – it was down to the judges to decide who they would take through to the Quarter Finals.

The final verdict saw Katrina and Tom being the next to be eliminated from the competition.

In her role as Head Judge, Arlene said, first to the girls:

“Katrina, week-on-week you have delighted us with the challenges you have taken off, with having been a ballerina. Tonight wasn’t your best night. Bethany, you had a slow start in this competition, and then suddenly you turned things around. But obviously the viewers don’t necessarily feel the same way we all feel. It isn’t unanimous, but the girl that will be leaving us tonight is Katrina.”

And to the boys, “Guys, I’m just going to cut straight to the chase tonight, because it is a unanimous decision. The boy leaving us tonight, is Tom”

Reflecting back on the results of tonight’s show, an emotional Katrina stated, “I’ve just loved every single minute. Everything. I’ll miss it so much. Thank you for everything, it’s… it’s changed my life. Performing here every Saturday, it’s just the most incredible feeling, I’ve just loved it so much.”

And for Tom, “I just want to say a big thank you to the choreographers, it’s been really amazing working with you. And thank you to the people at home”

The live results show also featured a performance from top British girl group The Saturdays with their new song Notorious, and a spectacular ensemble performance, choreographed by Beth Honan to Kelly Rowland’s Work, showcasing the talents of the Top 10 finalists once more.

Next week’s show will be broadcast at 5:45pm, with the results show at 7:30pm
