Sony Pictures Television today announces the programme line-up for its first ever Sony branded UK channel – Sony Entertainment Television.
Launching on April 7 on Sky 157, and primarily aimed at women, the channel offers quality scripted programmes – from engaging comedies and dramas through to compelling movies.
Kate Marsh, Senior Vice President, Broadcast and Channel Development, EMEA Networks, announced the line-up: “We feel there’s real space for a quality, scripted entertainment channel where our audience can indulge in a bit of ‘me-time’ with a mix of new and familiar content. Combining television hits with a movie line up that really draws on the Sony Pictures’ legacy, we’re looking forward to our audience spending quality time with us.”
Launch night includes the UK broadcast premiere of Hawthorne, starring Jada Pinkett Smith, and the relationship sitcom ‘Til Death, with Brad Garrett (from Everybody Loves Raymond).
Weekends start early on Sony Entertainment Television with blockbusting movies from the Sony Pictures studio in Hollywood, every Thursday to Monday at 9pm. Launching with the Oscar winning Marie Antoinette, this ‘Long Weekend of Movies’ slot continues through April with The Da Vinci Code, All the King’s Men and Academy Award winning Philadelphia.
Sony Entertainment Television also brings back everyone’s favourite serial drama, Dawson’s Creek. The series will air every day at 7pm, with a catch-up on Sundays, offering a chance for fans and new comers alike to enjoy the series that created so many Hollywood stars.
Further highlights in April include the Emmy® Award winning Huff and the UK premiere of the final season of casino drama Las Vegas, alongside UK drama hits Hotel Babylon and Hustle, both playing from their first seasons. Plus every afternoon at 2pm there’s a chance to indulge in some of Hollywood’s classic titles and compelling stories in the afternoon movie.
