Channel 4’s big money, interactive game show The Million Pound Drop Live returns for a four episode Christmas run with the weekday shows running at 8pm. Joining new sets of contestants this Christmas will be some famous celebrity pairs hoping to win big for the charities of their choice.
Hosted by Davina McCall, The Million Pound Drop Live is filmed live from a highly secure location. Contestants are given £1million in cash at the top of the show – but they’ve got to keep hold of it over eight tough questions. The show’s white knuckle tension is played out on a fiendish device with four trapdoors, on which the answers to each question are displayed.
Contestants can place all their money on one answer or spread the risk but if their money is on the wrong answer, it will be lost forever. Last series, Father and son team George and Larry Lamb triumphed and won £50,000 for their chosen charity – can our new celebrity pairs also beat The Million Pound Drop?
On Wednesday 15th December at 8pm, Mum and daughter duo Sophie and Janet will be battling to hold on to the money for their charities. Janet is playing for the charity ‘Maggie’s’ which gives help, support and information for any of the problems associated with cancer via their cancer caring centres. Sophie is playing for ‘Tommy’s’ which funds research into pregnancy problems along with providing support and information to parents.
Janet Ellis says: “When Sophie was little, I told her I knew everything. She’s had her suspicions since then and I think I’m going to be horribly found out. In fact, I’m going to be relying on her! But I’m looking forward to taking part and I’m hoping to win some major money for our charities.”
And in the last show of this Christmas run, on Saturday 18th Decemberat 10.05pm a top pop couple brave the game in the hopes of triumphing over the drop and bagging the cash fortheir chosen charities.
