Sophie Webster Will Be Coronation Street’s First Lesbian
Sophie Webster is set to shock the residents of Coronation Street by coming out as their first ever lesbian.
Sophie will dump her Christian boyfriend and start a relationship with a girl from her bible study group, though show bosses haven’t yet decided if it will be Sophie’s current pal, Sian Powers (Sacha Parkinson) or a new character.
A source told The News Of The World: “The show’s bosses want to create a soap representative of society in 2009 and they are acutely aware that they need more gay characters and that they need to tackle more gay issues,” said the source.
