Starz have released their first proper video promo for the new series ‘Spartacus: Vengeance’ and the faint hearted should certainly not push play on the player below.

It is gory, blood filled and sometimes even stomach curdling, but Liam McIntyre is very impressive in this, his debut in the title role of the show.

As the clip starts Spartacus explains:

The Romans condemend my wife to slavery, they took everything from me.

He then addresses a crowd of slaves adding:

You are presented choice, to submit forever to Roman cruelty or to take up arms and to join us in freedom!

It has previously been revealed that Spartacus and his fellow gladiators will start the second series out of Capua and will be embroiled in a bitter war with Roman aristocracy as part of a massive slave rebellion.

Also featured in the sneak peek are familiar faces Viva Bianca’s Ilithyia and Lucy Lawless’ Lucretia. Viva can be seen screaming in desperation and shock in one scene, while Lucretia looks very unhinged and not her normal self in another.
