Channel 4 has axed its parody show ‘Star Stories’ after three series.

The show has previously taken on celebrities such as Elton John, Simon Cowell and Take That but has now been cancelled so that the Channel can put cash into new comedy shows.

An insider said: “It’s run for a few series and we’ve had a lot of fun with it but it’s not coming back as we want to do new things.

“We looked at doing another one and which stars we should take off but everyone just decided it had run its course.”

UPDATE: Star Stories has NOT been axe, it is just resting according to a Channel 4 source.

“It has not been cancelled – we’re just resting it because it has done all the celebrities that could be covered by Star Stories at this time,” she explained.

“It’s a one-off show, and a non-narrative series, so it might be back next year or the year after. Never say never. It’s definitely not dead and buried!”
