Stars of Emmerdale & Corrie reportedly “boycott” Inside Soap Awards 2012! See full list of winners

The Daily Star today reports that the majority of the cast of both Emmerdale and Coronation Street “boycotted” last night’s Inside Soap Awards 2012 because rival BBC soap EastEnders bagged many of the top gongs.

The paper adds, “No stars from Coronation Street or Emmerdale made the 200-mile journey from Manchester to attend the glitzy central London bash.”

However, award officials blamed the absences from on “filming clashes” but one awards insider said, “They’re in a right huff. They never seem to get the recognition they deserve.

“They’re not prepared to travel all that way when there’s nothing to show for their efforts at the end of it.

“They feel like the judges must have something against them.”

And last night, in response to several tweets on the subject of the awards, Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten wrote, “In reply to many tweets. Yes I’ve seen the #insidesoapawards results…

“Yes, I know we’ve won nothing. And yes, I think it’s very sad xxx”

Indeed it is sad, since I personally think Emmerdale is absolutely addictive viewing! Likewise for Corrie, but at the awards yesterday, the nation’s favourite Street only bagged three awards, which went to Michelle Keegan who plays Tina McIntyre, and Alex Bain who plays Simon Barlow.

Michelle yet again bagged the Sexiest Female award as well as the Best Dressed gong, while Alex won Best Young Actor.

And though EastEnders walked away with the majority of the awards, Hollyoaks star Emmett J Scanlan – who plays Brendan Brady – won Best Actor and Best Bad Boy.

Here’s the full list of winners…

This surely is a fix – Eastenders is absolutely boring with so-called plot lines really losing the ‘plot’.
Emmerdale & Corrie are far the 2 best soaps and especially Coronation Street focusing on real life story lines ie, Tyrone’s abusive relationship as men are usually viewed as the ‘wifebeaters’, but this storyline gives viewers the ‘other’ side which takes place as I type. I had actually ‘lost the plot’ with E Enders when there were relatives popping up out of the blue & the usual slut lines for Kat/Alfie…boring & the inevitable results. Dot, Mo and Jannine were worth watching but we the public forced to take on board other culture’s with storyline’s which were plain crazy.
Good on the casts of both soaps not attending and, next tear will be a repeat performance. What happened to our votes?
East Enders is finished & nothing will save it unless Den & Angie re-surface.
