Steve Carell has filmed final The Office scenes

Steve Carell has reportedly shot his last scenes on The Office.

The TV funnyman has played Michael Scott in the NBC “mockumentary” since 2005 and received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Comedy Series in 2006.

On April 29, 2010, Carell announced that he would be leaving the show, despite earning approximately $175,000 per episode and co-star Rainn Wilson has revealed that he shot his last scenes last week, writing on Twitter:

“Steve Carell’s last day on The Office. And the angels of comedy wept… #saddestdayever.”

Will Ferrell will lead the cast for the remainder of the current season.

“He is the new manager that Michael Scott has brought in to replace him, but we kind of swiftly realize that that’s a terrible idea. Terrible,” Wilson told MTV News last week.

On how Michael will bow out, writer Mindy Kaling admitted that they would have liked to kill him off, telling TV Guide:

“That was something we pitched forever. If it had been my decision, he would have been leaning on a pane of glass in the conference room and fallen to his death.”

She added:

“We had an early pitch that he drove off to Hollywood to make his movie. But everyone knows Michael would fail and have to come back to Scranton.”
