Watch the first 8 minutes of V remake

ABC have released the above clip from their V remake, in advance of it’s US premiere on the 3rd of November.

It’s not a bad opening to the series and definitely introduces you to the major characters from the show. By the way, did anyone else notice Bailey Salinger from Party Of Five? Who would have known he was still alive and kicking?

BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey is said to undergoing a makeover for American TV audiences.

The sitcom by James Corden and Ruth Jones will be remade by US TV network ABC, without any input from Corden or Jones….that seems a little strange.

ABC has reportedly ordered a pilot for this series, along with two other sitcoms – one from Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith and the other from the executive producer of Samantha Who, Don Todd.

Preview Of ABC’s ‘The Middle’ With Patricia Heaton

We’re taking a look at some of this years new comedies and TV shows and this one with Patricia Heaton is a little strange. It’s one of four half hour comedy shows that will air on US TV network ABC this autumn but it reminds me of one that came way before.

The show is aptly titled ‘The Middle’ and is about being middle-class, middle-aged and living in the middle of the country. However it is way too like ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ to be considered original in the slightest. In fact unless I am seriously mistaken the annoying kid in the clip is Erik Per Sullivan, better known as Malcolm’s little brother ‘Dewey’. Of course he’s called Rick in this show, but who’s splitting hairs?

First Look At ‘Hank’ With Kelsey Grammer

Kelsey Grammer has made some amazing TV shows in his time. Cheers and Frasier stand out obviously, though his last venture ‘Back To You’ failed to hit his previously reached, dizzy heights.

Not yet ready to retire, Kelsey has signed with US TV network ABC to headline their new half hour comedy ‘Hank.’ Hank” features Grammer as a former tycoon who, forced out of his job, is forced to downsize, move from New York and begin spending a lot of time with his family.

Check out the clip below and let us know what you think. It kind of seems like Frasier with a family to me….

Elizabeth Mitchell is reportedly returning to Lost during its final season.

Elizabeth, who plays Juliet Burke, was last seen in the season five trying to explode a hydrogen bomb with a rock..

Mitchell has signed up for ABC’s V as well as Lost according to TV Guide. You can watch some amazing preview clips from ‘V’ here.

“We’re thrilled to be able to have her do both [shows],” said ABC entertainment president Stephen McPherson. “It was a little bit of a juggling act… and we’re very thankful to the [accommodating Lost] producers, but I think we’ll see her on Lost during the show’s final season.”

Continue over the jump to view the second clip.

Samantha Who Gets Cancelled By ABC

samanthawho

US TV network ABC have cancelled Christina Applegate’s Samantha Who.

Fans and critics of the show seemed sure it would be awarded a third season however according to The Hollywood Reporter the show has been permanently axed.

The axe fell after the show failed to cut its budget enough for the network to bring it back.

The series was a strong performer when it aired on Monday nights in 2007, but the ratings fell when the show was moved to Thursday nights last season.

Last Night’s TV – Lost: The Variable

lost the variable

Well this episode was both an anticlimax in some ways and a hell of a humdinger and shocker in other ways – but as I’d foolishly read the spoiler about Daniel getting shot by his own mother back in 1977, I of course lost the ‘shock factor’ there….

However, knowing that that was going to happen was in a way a good thing because it enabled me to know that for the entirety of Daniel’s life – from his piano playing savant childhood to the moment he went back to island for the final time – Eloise had known that she herself would end his life… so why did she send him back?

Why not just say ‘no’ when he was vegged out from his own temporal displacement experiments on himself and asked her if she’d be proud of him if he took up Charles Widmore’s ‘job opportunity’ to go on the Kahuna to the island? And why spend years raising him, making him focus solely on science and become this ‘prodigy’ when she knew she was going to be the one to kill him before he could actually do any good with everything he’d learned??
