On Monday, Billy accidentally bumps into a woman in the café and spills tea all over her before chatting to Phil about Jay. However, despite his best attempts, Jay wants nothing to do with Billy. Later, Shirley points out to Billy that the woman from the café who he’d spilled tea on is giving him ‘the eye’ and it’s not long before she introduces herself as Viv Bates… thug Terry’s wife.

On Monday, Peggy’s livid when she finds a hungover Phil passed out on the sofa so she throws a vase of water over him. When he finally emerges in the kitchen, Peggy’s further angered when he starts to pour vodka over his cereals prompting Ben to say that he wishes Phil wasn’t his father.

Later, there’s a heated standoff in the bar at the Vic between Phil and Peggy that results in Phil threatening to sell his half of the pub from under her. When the customers fall silent, it’s clear that Peggy’s finding it difficult to keep herself calm and asks everyone to leave. Just as Shirley offers Peggy her help, there’s a huge bang and they’re stunned to see that Phil’s fallen down the stairs. At that moment, Ben walks in to see his dad unconscious. Lisa decides that Zak’s failed her and takes control of the arrangements for Debbie’s return however she’s angered when Andy refuses to discuss joint access. However, when Gennie lets slip that Bob’s keeping a wad of cash in the shop, Aaron suggests to Zak that they rob him. Reluctantly, Zak agrees but they don’t tell Lisa. The BBC has admitted today that a subsidiary compnay kept more than £100,000 of charity money that was raised from TV phone ins.

The BBC statement read:

“We are disclosing today that £106,000 which should have gone to charity was wrongly retained by Audiocall. This sum was in relation to calls made outside of the window in which votes were counted in a number of shows over a two year period, ending in August 2007. This was a serious oversight in Audiocall which must never be allowed to happen again. Read more & comment »
