You would be forgiven for thinking that being nominated for no less than FOUR British Soap Awards would be enough to turn any actor’s head, but not so for Corrie star Alan Halsall – who of course plays Tyrone Dobbs – because all he can think about right now are his wife, the gorgeous Lucy-Jo Hudson, and the baby girl they’re expecting in August.
While speaking to the Daily Mirror about being nominated for four gongs – the ceremony airs on ITV on Sunday at 8pm – modest Alan said, “I’m not too comfortable with all that really. I have one standard smile which is like a big grin.
“To be honest, when I get there I just want to get in, get to the bar and have a pint.” Read more & comment »

Fans of Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, who plays the role of mechanic Tyrone Dobbs, will know that he and wife Lucy-Jo Hudson – who formerly starred in the soap as Katy Harris and later went on to play the role of Rosie Trevanion in Wild At Heart – are expecting their first baby in August…
And today it’s been revealed that the couple have learned they’re having a girl!
They made the revelation during an interview with Hello! magazine and have since tweeted their joy on now being able to start putting the baby’s nursery together.

Hollyoaks have triumphed at this year’s All About Soaps Awards, bringing home more awards than any other mainstream soap!

Fans of Coronation Street will know that loyal Fiz Stape has vowed to stand by her man Tyrone Dobbs, irrespective of the outcome of his forthcoming trial…

Coronation Street legend, Bill Tarmey, is to be immortalised on the set of the award-winning soap he was best known for, in the form of a bronze statue.
Tarmey, who played the much-loved character of Jack Duckworth for 31 years, passed away last November after losing his battle with a brain tumour.

It’s been revealed today that Coronation Street bosses have filmed two endings for the climax to the Kirsty Soames and Tyrone Dobbs storyline…
One ending will feature Tyrone (Alan Halsall) going to prison, having been found guilty of child abduction and of battering Kirsty, while the other shows wicked Kirsty (Natalie Gumede) getting her comeuppance and being imprisoned when her lies are exposed!
As fans will know, Tyrone is of course innocent of the charges of domestic violence, because it has in fact been Kirsty who’s been battering him…
However, as we saw in last night’s double-bill of episodes, Tyrone’s lover Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) put him on the road to prison by tipping off the police as to their whereabouts. Read more & comment »

As fans of Coronation Street will know, Fiz Stape and her lover Tyrone Dobbs are about to find themselves in some serious trouble after they’re arrested for abducting Tyrone’s daughter Ruby…
The drama begins tonight when we’ll see Tyrone (Alan Halsall) pleading with his mate Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) to help him snatch little Ruby – while Kevin’s daughter Sophie is babysitting the tot – so that he can take her out of the country.
And though Kevin tries his best to talk Tyrone out of it, telling him that as he’s already on bail for the alleged assault on his former fiancé Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede) if he’s caught taking Ruby, he’ll go to prison. So, having decided that he can’t carry on risking Ruby’s safety be leaving her with her volatile and violent mother, Tyrone (Alan Halsall) and Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) hide out in Wales having abducted the baby.

Fans of Coronation Street will know that for months now, the soap has been highlighting the often taboo issue of men being the subject of domestic violence in their Kirsty Soames and Tyrone Dobbs storyline.
However, it’s been revealed that as the plotline continues, calls to a national helpline for male victims of domestic violence have trebled to around 30 a day.
Mark Brooks, chairman of the ManKind Initiative, told the Daily Star that he’s grateful to the soap for giving beaten British men “the confidence to speak out.”

If you watched last night’s National Television Awards, you’ll know that Corrie star Alan Halsall walked away with a well deserved gong, having beaten off stiff competition in the category for Best Serial Drama Performance for his portrayal of domestic violence victim, Tyrone Dobbs…
And during a behind-the-scenes chat with reporters at last night’s glittering awards ceremony in London, Alan spoke about the domestic violence storyline, and his hope that Tyrone’s mad and now ex-fiancé Kirsty won’t be killed off when the drama reaches its climax.

Fans of Coronation Street will of course know that Kirsty Soames is violent and abusive towards her fiancé Tyrone Dobbs, and he is currently planning to marry her only with the intention of being sure he can then have legal rights over their baby daughter Ruby…
And of course, Tyrone (Alan Halsall) is having an affair with his neighbour and former girlfriend Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) who he intends to be with permanently once he’s got rid of Kirsty (Natalie Gumede).
