Fans of Doctor Who will of course know that the second episode of the new series, which is entitled The Rings of Akhenaten, airs this Saturday at 6.15pm on BBC1, and ahead of it, the BBC has released new images from the show, which we have for you after the jump.

After we reported earlier this week that Doctor Who mastermind, Steven Moffat, has ruled out a return for Amy Pond and Rory Williams, the actor who plays Rory, Arthur Darvil, has revealed how different working on the hit BBC sci-fi family entertainment show to any other job you could have.
Arthur Darvil became a household name when acting alongside Karen Gillan as Rory Williams and his wife Amy Pond, the previous companions of the current Doctor Who (Matt Smith).

Fans of Doctor Who will of course know that Karen Gillan left the show and her role as sidekick Amy Pond during the hit show’s last series…
And taking on the role of the Doctor’s new companion, Clara Oswin, is former Emmerdale star Jenna Louis Coleman, who says that she has no intention of trying to step into Karen’s shoes on the show.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the role, Jenna said, “I watched the five episodes that went out recently as we were filming.
“It was strange to watch their goodbye as I was doing the beginning – and interesting to see where it left the Doctor as well.”
And of playing Clara, who we’ll meet in the show’s Christmas special The Snowmen – which will air on the BBC on Christmas Day – Jenna said, “There’s no way to consider [being Clara] other than something totally different… Read more & comment »

Tonight’s episode of Doctor Who, which is of course entitled, The Angels Take Manhattan, sees the departures of Amy Pond and Rory Williams, and in an interview with the Daily Mirror, Karen Gillan – who of course plays Amy – has revealed that the tears we’ll see on-screen were in fact real.
Describing her exit from the show as “highly emotional” she told the paper that she in fact wept for a fortnight after she filmed her final scenes as the Doctor’s sidekick.
She said, “I just can’t believe it’s real. I have just always thought in my head I am in the show until the final episode airs, so I thought I had loads of time.
“But now it is approaching.
“It is a really weird sensation because I can’t wait to see the episode and can’t wait for everyone else to see it – but I don’t want it to air at the same time… Read more & comment »

In today’s online edition of The Sun’s TV Biz, the paper is running a poll asking which of Doctor Who’s companions is “the sexiest” out of five contenders…
So is it Amy Pond, Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Donna Noble or new sidekick, Clara Oswin?
We of course briefly met Clara (Jenna Louise Coleman) in the debut episode of series seven which aired on Saturday, which came as a pleasant surprise since we had thought that Clara would be introduced in the Christmas special.

As fans of Doctor Who will of course know, Karen Gillan bows out as the Doctor’s sidekick Amy Pond in the forthcoming series.
She is being replaced by former Emmerdale and Titanic star, Jenna Louise Coleman, who takes up the mantle of the Time Lord’s companion – who’s to be called Clara Oswin – during the show’s Christmas special.
However, while speaking to the Radio Times about her departure from the show, Karen also revealed that she’s been sharing a few tips with Jenna about the role, and about her interactions with Matt Smith, who of course plays the Doctor.
Karen said, “I’ve met Jenna and we get on really well.

In the build up to the new series of Doctor Who, the Daily Star newspaper has revealed that the explosive finale episode of the new run is due to take place using one of the most famous landmarks in the world as a weapon, the Statue Of Liberty!
According to the publication, the legendary New York statue is to be turned into a deadly Weeping Angel when the series comes to an end this autumn.

Doctor Who star Matt Smith has been talking to sci-fi website SFX about the Time Lord’s new companion, who’s to be played by former Emmerdale actress Jenna Louise Coleman…
And of the new sidekick, who it’s believed will be called Clara, Matt revealed that she’s very different to the Doctor’s current companion Amy Pond, who is of course played by Karen Gillan.
Matt began by praising writer Steven Moffat for creating the new sidekick character, saying, “I think Steven’s writing her in a very interesting way…
“In a different way to Amy Pond.”

It sounds like it wasn’t all tears on the set of Doctor Who when Karen Gillan filmed her final scenes as Amy Pond, as according to the Sun newspaper, the feisty red-head managed to sneak in a groping session with her Time Lord co-star.
According to the publication, Gillan got Matt Smith inside a Tardis and pinched his bum while the cameras weren’t looking!

Doctor Who stars Arthur Darvill and Karen Gillan – who of course play the roles of the Time Lord’s sidekicks Rory Williams and Amy Pond respectively – have now filmed their final scenes in the show, which will of course air during series seven, which is set to premiere next month on the BBC.
Of their last scenes, which both agreed were “very sad” to film, Arthur told TV Biz, “The last scene we shot was inside the Tardis with all three of us.
“We were then in darkness and we had a big group hug.”
However, trying to make light of the clearly very emotional moment, Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor, said, “We had a hug and Karen fondled me. I called her Fondling Bottom Gillan.”
Laughing, Arthur continued on a more serious note, saying, “All those feelings kept inside for so long just suddenly came out…” Read more & comment »

As Britain sheds a tear over the exit of Karen Gillan from Doctor Who this year, it seems as though she is missing the show as much as it is missing her.
Gillan – who is set to leave her role as the Doctor’s sidekick, Amy Pond , along with her on-screen husband Rory Williams, played by Arthur Darvil in what show writer, Steven Moffat has described as a truly heartbreaking exit, during the fifth episode of series seven of the iconic BBC sci-fi drama – was out and about for the night at the Scottish Fashion Awards, where she spoke to stv.tv about leaving her role.

Jenna-Louise Coleman, the actress who played murdering lesbian Jasmine Thomas in ITV’s Emmerdale, may have had her new Doctor Who character named as Clara!
According to fans of the iconic sci-fi show, they have heard Coleman’s character referred to as ‘Clara’ on the set of the new series, which is currently being filmed.

Karen Gillan, who played Doctor Who sidekick Amy Pond in the hit BBC drama, has revealed that she would like her next role to be in NBC US comedy, Community!
The actress, who quit her role in Doctor Who last year, became hooked on the show after finding out that they had featured a spook of the BBC drama, Inspector Spacetime.

The Daily Mail reports today that several members of the cast of Doctor Who were recently spotted filming scenes for the forthcoming series seven in what the paper describes as “a spooky Welsh graveyard.”
And among those cast members was Alex Kingston, who of course plays River Song, who’s evidently back for what is the final series for Karen Gillan and for her character, Amy Pond.
