I’m not entirely sure what this show is trying to be; there are obvious SATC principles as well as the type of intrigues and bizarre mental projections often seen in Ally McBeal, but despite being marginally amusing very occasionally, it’s overall effect was a confusion of ludicrous premises and clichés.
The show follows the lives of City PAs Midge, Lucy, Grace – who mysteriously disappeared early on – and Nicole. All the women fell easily into stereotypes; Lucy the blonde-but-clever-despite-it woman, Grace the woman who could easily have actually been royalty judging by her voice and demeanour, so that’s the upper-class bird taken care of, Midge, a Scouser who’s easily bedded and full of malapropisms and finally Nicole, who’s all fur coat and no knickers, literally… Read more & comment »

“We were PAs in the same office – that’s how we met… it was simple and fun and boring but that’s real life isn’t it? And then something terrible happened… things can never be the same again.”

The Sun has reported that James Corden and Matthew Horne are in talks with the BBC about making another series of their new comedy show.

I have read some very damning reviews of BBC Three’s new sketch show Horne and Corden. Rosie Christie over on Unreality Shout wanted to like it, but found herself bitterly disappointed with the latest offering from the Gavin and Stacey creators. Benji Wilson at The Telegraph found it “about as funny as credit default swaps.”
I have admittedly missed both episodes of the series so far, but have been watching the odd Youtube clip on BBC’s dedicated channel. I wouldn’t say the boy’s sketches are comedy gold, but the ones I have seen have certainly been at least mildly amusing. The American piss take (embedded above) definitely made me laugh, though after the first two minutes I did get a bit bored.

Former Pop Idol finalist Will Young is all set for a guest appearance on BBC Three comedy Horne and Corden.
Matt Horne confirmed that Will has already filmed his part for the show, claiming that he gave a “fantastic” performance.
“We do have Will Young in the last sketch of Superman and Spiderman,” Horne told This Morning. “He wasn’t required to do very much but what he did do was very specific and he brought something different that we didn’t write.”
Gavin and Stacey stars Matthew Horne and James Corden launched their new sketch show imaginatively titled ‘Horne & Corden’ on BBC Three this week.
Despite negative reviews like this and this the show still managed to pull in 800,000 viewers, a new record for BBC Three.
So was ‘Horne & Corden’ good enough to warrant these high ratings or are people drawn in by the media frenzy surrounding the two brash comedians who aren’t afraid to speak their mind and create great headlines along the way? I have the episode recorded but have been strangely reticent to actually sit down and watch it so I would love to hear what some of you thought of Tuesday night’s show.
Mathew Horne and James Corden star in their own, new character comedy sketch show on BBC Three. Mathew and James host the show as themselves in front a studio audience while also playing a wide range of characters.
In a first for BBC Three, the cast of Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps are joined by the casts of Coming Of Age and Grown Ups in a special episode for Comic Relief.
