Beverley Callard is “looking forward” to leaving ‘Coronation Street’.
The 53-year-old actress – who plays bolshie barmaid Liz McDonald in the ITV1 soap – is feeling positive about ending her current run on the show because she wants to spend more time with her husband Jon.
She said: “As much as I love working on ‘Coronation Street’, I’m looking forward to leaving again so I can spend time with Jon.
Beverley Callard has admitted that she could ‘never say never’ about returning to Coronation Street.
The actress who is best known as mouthy barmaid Liz McDonald is set to film her final scenes for the ITV soap later this week and admitted that although the schedule is punishing, she may come back one day.
Callard told The Mirror:
“It’s the best job in the world, but the schedule can be tiring. It’s exhausting for anybody working 12 hours a day, every single day. But when I was poorly, two years ago, I found it relentless.

The 53-year-old actress explained she and husband Jon McEwan have been inundated with various offers to ring the new year in, but aren’t sure which of the many bashes to attend.
She told BANG Showbiz: “We’ve got about 10 New Year’s Eve invites and we’re just trying to figure out which parties we’ll go to. Who knows? Maybe we won’t even go to any!”
Beverley Callard has admitted that she would love to play Kat’s mum in ‘EastEnders’.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star, who is best known as Liz McDonald in the ITV1 soap, revealed when she leaves the cobbles at the start of 2011 she wouldn’t dream of turning down a part on BBC show playing feisty Kat Moon’s mum.
When asked whether she would accept a job on her rival soap, she explained: “I could not say no. I’d give it a go – just for a while. I’d love to go back and play Kat’s mum.”

Corrie star Bev Callard has revealed that not only is her character attracted to barman Ciaran Duffy, she herself fancies Keith Duffy who plays the roguish charmer.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, she said, “(Keith) is gorgeous! You wouldn’t be normal if you didn’t fancy him.
“He’s a lovely bloke and is always in a good mood.

Corrie star Bev Callard has continued to make revelations about her treatment for the debilitating depression which saw the actress taking a leave of absence from the show last year following a nervous breakdown.
Speaking to The Sun, Bev explained that although the array of tablets that she takes to keep her illness in check canbe “a real pain”, she added that she’s thankful that with it, she can now be “the real me” again.
Bev said, “My medication for depression is brilliant, but it can also be a real pain.
“If I’m going anywhere it takes me longer to pack my pills than my clothes.
“It also affects my short-term memory. I’m a perfectionist at work and thankfully can memorise my lines.

Corrie actress Bev Callard – who of course plays Liz McDonald – has revealed that her long-term partner, Jon McEwan, has popped the question, and she happily said ‘yes’.
It seems that 45 year old Jon proposed to Bev while the couple were having a day together on a beach in Mojacar, Southern Spain.
Bev told the Daily Mirror, “There I was, wearing nothing but Ambre Solaire, a bikini and flip-flops, with hair so frizzy I hid it under a baseball cap.

Corrie star Bev Callard has told the PA that her real-life partner, Jon McEwan, is now used to watching Bev’s Corrie persona – Liz McDonald – kissing other men.

Corrie star Beverley Callard has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that she still loves playing the character of Liz McDonald.
Bev has played the fiery barmaid since 1989, and has had some major storylines.
She told the paper, “I just love playing Liz. It’s such a great role and so much fun to play.
“She goes from high drama to very funny comedy, so I’ve got the best of both worlds.
“I love it. It’s like opening a present when you get that script and as long as I keep getting that buzz, then I’ll stay…
"At first going into a show like that is very daunting because there is a lot to live up to.
“It's a programme that has gone on nearly 50 years and you're surrounded by all these talented people.
"Also you're acting with someone who you don't know and you have to look as though you've been married to them for years.
“But me and Charlie Lawson hit it off straight away and had a lot of fun. We grew very close and we still are to this day."
Loose Women star Coleen Nolan has written in her Daily Mirror column that Coronation Street star Bev Callard’s decision to go public about her traumatic nervous breakdown was “brave.”
Coleen, who’s been a friend of Beverley’s for many years, also wrote about her shock on hearing that the pub Bev and her partner Jon ran had gone out of business.

Coronation Street’s Bev Callard has revealed that when she had cervical cancer, her ‘toyboy’ husband – Steve Callard – was cheating on her.
Steve – who’s eight years younger than Bev – had an affair with a shop assistant, and Bev has revealed how his betrayal devastated her at a time when she was coping with the horrors of having cancer.
Speaking about her book – Unbroken – to the News of the World, Bev revealed how these two incidents left her devastated.
