The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that US TV network Showtime has ordered another season of Californication.
The network is said to have ordered a 12-episode third season of David Duchovny’s edgy TV show. The season is planned to premiere in late 2009.
“This unapologetic show, about a group of characters led by the inimitable David Duchovny, has quickly established itself as one of our signature comedy series,” Showtime president of entertainment Robert Greenblatt said. “Beneath its veneer of debauchery, however, is a complex take on love and adult relationships that surprisingly turns poetic and romantic just when you least expect it.”
David Duchovny has checked himself out of rehab after being successfully treated for sex addiction.
The star’s lawyer, Stanton Stein, told Reuters: “He is out and will very soon begin work on his new movie.”
In August the Californication star released a statement saying:
“I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction. I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.”
