Comedian and former Doctor Who star, Catherine Tate, has signed up alongside Lee Mack to star in the UK remake of the hit US sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond, the Sun newspaper reports.
The series, named The Smiths at the moment, will feature Mack as a sports writer called Lee (not Raymond) and Catherine as his fed-up wife.

David Walliams and Catherine Tate are still continuing their hard work on new BBC sitcom Big School, he has revealed.
Yesterday the Britain’s Got Talent judge raved about the performance of his co-stars and tweeted his followers saying:
We have two new showbiz romance alerts for you today after Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch was photographed stepping out with actress Liv Tyler – who is of course Aerosmith front man Steve Tyler’s daughter – and presenter Adrian Chiles was spotted cuddling up to comedienne Catherine Tate recently.
First, as to Benedict’s possible romance with Liv, the two first met while they were filming scenes for the upcoming independent movie Phoenix, which tells the tale of a couple who have to deal with the aftermath of a one-night stand.
The Sun adds, “But they sparked rumours they could be more than just co-stars after they were snapped leaving Hollywood’s Arclight Cinerama Dome.”
And on Sunday, they were spotted together at a post-Emmy awards party at the Sunset Towers Hotel.
As to Adrian and Catherine’s romance, they have apparently been secretly dating for over a year, but have only recently decided to go public… Read more & comment »
In today’s online edition of The Sun’s TV Biz, the paper is running a poll asking which of Doctor Who’s companions is “the sexiest” out of five contenders…

We of course briefly met Clara (Jenna Louise Coleman) in the debut episode of series seven which aired on Saturday, which came as a pleasant surprise since we had thought that Clara would be introduced in the Christmas special.

Comedienne Catherine Tate is to reprise her role as Nellie Bertram on the US version of The Office.
NBC made the announcement yesterday, and the show’s executive producer – and cast member – Paul Lieberstein, said, “Catherine is hysterical. We introduced her briefly in last season’s finale and knew she had to be a part of the show somehow.

The Sun today reveals that Take That singer Jason Orange is dating comedienne Catherine Tate.
The couple met when Jason and Catherine filmed a spoof of a Take That video for Comic Relief.
The couple spent a full day filming, and the paper adds, “By the final take the smitten couple were hugging and larking around the stage together.”
An insider said, “Catherine and Jason hadn’t met before they were thrown together at the filming.
“But they had great fun as she tried to take him off and he was very impressed.
“There were real sparks between the two.”

Sky Atlantic HD has announced a host of guest stars that will make appearances across its first original comedy commission, This Is Jinsy. Directed by Matt Lipsey (Psychoville, Little Britain), This Is Jinsy is an eccentric eight-part comedy written by and starring newcomers Chris Bran and Justin Chubb.
This Is Jinsy follows Arbiter Maven (Chubb) and Operative Sporall (Bran) as they keep a close eye on the 791 residents of Jinsy from the Great Tower in the parish of Veen. Life on the island is rather Orwellian: each colourful member of the community is monitored by a surveillance system of tessellators, from local folk dribbler Melody Lane to weather monk Tracee Henge. Doctor Who actress Catherine Tate has reportedly been targetted by an obsessed member of the public, convinced that she is cheating on her husband.
The person has been sending Tate hate filled letters prompting a male, thought to be her husband Twig to report the matter to police.
A source told The Sun: “The letters were nasty and caused great alarm. They contain completely false allegations. Catherine is understandably incredibly upset. It’s very sinister.”
