After last night’s breath-taking premier of Hollyoaks Later, it is not hard to see how lead star, Emmett J Scanlan, is being tipped as the next big thing on the big screen, as well as his current platform.

Scanlan, who plays Brendan Brady in the hit Channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks, has just seen his new film, Charlie Casanova take home the lion’s share of trophies, including best film and best actor for his lead, title role, at the 2011 European Independent Film Festival, but despite this, he has said that he will not pursue what is looking to be a very lucrative film career until he feels his character has finished with Hollyoaks!

Hollyoaks actor, Emmett J Scanlan, is taking his new film, Charlie Casanova, across to Australia to open the Melbourne Underground Film Festival.

During the festival the film, for which Scanlan was been awarded  the 2011 European Independent Film Festival award for Best Actor for his role as the title character, will be shown with a number of Irish features in a new section throughout the nine-day event.

Hollyoaks hunk, and notorious nasty man, Emmett J Scanalan has revealed that he believes he always gets cast as bad boy roles because he has a “d***head face”.

Scanalan, who plays  Brendan Brady – Boyfriend Beater, in the hit teen soap, Hollyoaks, has made the revelation with regards to his full-time role on the Channel 4 show, and compared it with his new role in upcoming film, Charlie Casanova, in which he plays the title character, saying:  ”Brendan Brady and Charlie Casanova are both that kind of bad guy.”
