Emmerdale star Laura Norton has hinted that the flame between her character, Kerry Wyatt, and Andy Sugden may be heading for re-ignition in the future!

Fans of the hit soap will know how Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) and Kerry had a brief fling back in September before Debbie (Charley Webb) split them up by saying she didn’t want Kerry near their sick daughter, Sarah, after a misunderstanding over Kerry’s medication.

When Val Pollard (Charlie Hardwick) upped and left her husband Eric and took off to Portugal for months, the hard-nosed Geordie expected to simply waltz back into the village and take up where she left off…

But of course, while she was away – having also cleared out Eric’s bank account – Eric began a relationship with Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop), who, though arguably not as exciting as Val, was a calm and steadying influence in the Pollard household.

However, Eric and Val have once again been growing closer as they share the common interest of their foster daughter Amy’s (Chelsea Halfpenny) welfare, and of course, Brenda can see that, and she believes that Eric still loves Val.

First of all there is the wedding between David (Matthew Wolfenden) and Alicia (Natalie Anderson).  Fans of the show will know that the only reason that the couple are getting wed is so that David will get temporary custody of Alicia’s son, Jacob, when she faces prison time in a few weeks.

Fans of Emmerdale will of course know that Val and Eric Pollard have split up because she bogged off to Portugal for weeks, clearing out Eric’s bank accounts in the process, and he found new love with Brenda Walker…

However, Val’s determined to win Eric (Chris Chittell) back, and equally as determined to win back the heart of foster daughter Amy Wyatt (Chelsea Halfpenny) who has made no secret of how much she disapproves of what Val (Charlie Hardwick) did to the Pollard family.

So, to that end, and to show off her generosity to Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) when it’s Amy’s birthday – in the episode that airs on June 27th – Val will present the birthday girl with a moped!

With the prospect of prison looking ever possible, Alicia Gallagher is getting desperate for the well-being of son Jake in Emmerdale, worried that if he goes to stay with his dad whilst she is away then she will lose custody of the young lad permanently, but David has a plan!

Whist her court date grows closer, Alicia (Natalie Anderson) starts making plans for her absence, and asks David (Matthew Wolfenden) if he would take care of Jake, which he agrees to do.

ITV yesterday announced the casting of a new Emmerdale character, a mother for wayward foster daughter of Eric and Val Pollard, Amy Wyatt.

Laura Norton will appear on our screens later in the year, playing Kerry Wyatt, Amy’s (Chelsea HalfPenny) unreliable mother, after a chance encounter reunites the two.

While appearing on Daybreak yesterday, Emmerdale star Charlie Hardwick revealed that she doesn’t think her character Val Pollard is likely to reconcile with her estranged husband Eric in any kind of a hurry.

As viewers will of course know, Val bogged off to Portugal for three months, wiping out Eric’s bank account in the process and leaving him heartbroken.

We reported last week how Emmerdale’s Alicia Gallagher will vent her fury at her secret Crush’s step-mum by means of a punch in the face (read original article here), leaving Val Pollard fuming, with a bloody nose, and phoning the police.

However, it would seem that, as funny as the scene will be to watch, it actually opens a huge can of worms for the Woolpack barmaid, as a well-kept secret leads her to serious trouble over the attack.

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Val Pollard left the village earlier this year to visit her son Paul in Portugal, however, in Thursday night’s episode of the rural soap, Val’s back…

And according to Charlie Hardwick, who plays the feisty Geordie, Val’s “expecting to pick up where she left off” with husband Eric (Chris Chittell) and foster daughter Amy (Chelsea Halfpenny).

But of course, as Eric has been having an affair with Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop), things are very much changed, and Eric will find himself having to choose between his wife and his lover.

Eric Pollard is possibly Emmerdale’s least likely chick magnet, and it’s hard to imagine that women might fight over his affections…

However, Lesley Dunlop, who plays Eric’s latest squeeze Brenda Walker, has revealed that if his wife Val (Charlie Hardwick) comes back to the village having abandoned Eric (Chris Chittell) to start a new life in Portugal, a fight is exactly what she’ll get!

Speaking to Inside Soap about the prospect of Brenda and Val having a showdown over Eric, Lesley – who’s also starred in May to December and Where the Heart Is – said, “I’d quite like it if Val comes back to the village fuming.

“It would be good to see how Eric reacts – whether he drops Brenda like a hot potato or tells Val where to go.

“And since Brenda is secretly hoping all the things Eric’s been telling her are true, she’d most likely be prepared to stand her ground and fight.”

News from the Emmerdale camp today includes the revelation that Charlie Hardwick would love to see her character, Val Pollard, becoming a lesbian.

Charlie, who’s currently taking three months off from the show to star in stage play, The Awkward Squad, told the PA, “Wouldn’t it be good if Val had a one-night stand with a woman?

“That would definitely put the cat among the pigeons. And knowing Val she’d tell Pollard it’s not really cheating if it’s with a woman.

“I think Val would go for anyone who flashed her the eye.”

Val is of course in Portugal at the moment visiting her son, who is himself gay, so maybe he could take his mum to a gay bar and hook her up there?

I have to agree, it’d be fun to see Val coming back from the hols a gay woman!

However, someone who’s most definitely playing for the straight team is Cameron Murray, but when he finds a shoulder to cry on in the form of Chas Dingle, a spark of sexual chemistry between them could see the Dingle family turned upside down… Read more & comment »

It’s been reported today that Emmerdale star Charlie Hardwick – who of course plays Val Pollard – has landed a role in a new theatre based comedy entitled, The Awkward Squad.

Digital Spy report that Charlie will take up the role next year in the production, which is described as “state-of-the-nation” play which focuses on the challenges women in our society face.

Emmerdale writer Karin Young wrote the play, and while she’s starring in it, Charlie will take a three month break from Emmerdale.

The Awkward Squad will be staged at The Customs House South Shields as of February 28. Thereafter, it will be performed in London’s Arts Theatre from March 6, and at York’s Theatre Royal from April 9… Read more & comment »
