As one of Emmerdale’s youngest characters, troubled teen Amy Wyatt has often had a lot to cry over, not least of which was giving up her baby son for adoption and the split between her foster parents, Eric (Chris Chittell) and Val Pollard (Charlie Hardwick)…
However, Chelsea Halfpenny, who of course plays gobby Amy, has revealed that she hates on-screen crying, and she would rather play Amy drunk or angry!
But of course, as Amy’s birth mother Kerry (Laura Norton) is about to get her feet firmly under the Emmerdale table – while trying to reestablish a relationship with the daughter she put into care – Chelsea reckons she’s going to have to film a lot of tearful scenes in upcoming episodes.
Speaking to the Sun’s TV Biz, Chelsea said, “I’m really rubbish about the tearful scenes — I’d much rather play Amy when she’s hammered!” Read more & comment »

At first, Amy thought her newborn was dead, so she left him in the village phone box, however, when Hazel Rhodes (Pauline Quirke) discovered the infant, he was still clinging to life.
The rest is of course history, and Amy’s been on an emotional rollercoaster since baby Kyle’s birth, first saying she didn’t want to keep him, then changing her mind and bringing him home, then finally, last night, signing the papers that would ensure he was put up for adoption.
And today, the Daily Mirror carries an interview with Chelsea Halfpenny, who of course plays Amy, and is the niece of former EastEnders star, Jill Halfpenny.

Since then, the whole truth about Amy’s pregnancy – and of course the revelation that Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is the baby’s father – has come out, but blessedly, she’s had the full support of foster parents Val and Eric Pollard, who are played by Charlie Hardwick and Chris Chittell respectively.
But, despite Val and Eric’s backing, and their pleas for her to keep the baby, Amy – who’s played by Chelsea Halfpenny – is still determined to give her little boy up for adoption.
However, as we get nearer to Christmas, perhaps the festive mood will rub off on Amy, and make her think twice about giving little Kyle up, especially once she gets to spend some time with him at home when he’s discharged from the hospital… Read more & comment »

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Cain Dingle – who’s played by Jeff Hordley – is about to be left for dead by a mystery attacker, but before that happens, he discovers that he has a son, and he’s a very special baby for one Emmerdale resident…
In next week’s episodes, we’ll see Amy Wyatt (Chelsea Halfpenny) giving birth to the baby boy, alone and terrified. And at first, she’s horrified when she thinks the baby may be dead…
But, phew, he’s not, and if rumours are to be believed, the little boy could be the ‘saviour baby’ that could save little Sarah Sugden’s (Sophia Amber Moore) life. Because of course, the new baby is Debbie Dingle’s (Charley Webb) half-brother.
Jeff has been telling All About Soap that when Cain discovers he’s the father of the little boy, he’ll actually soften up for once, but then of course, he’s going to be viciously beaten and left fighting for his life… Read more & comment »

It’s been revealed today that Emmerdale’s troubled teenager Amy Wyatt – who is of course played by Chelsea Halfpenny, who’s the niece of Jill Halfpenny – will give birth in December…
And in time honoured tradition in the run up to Christmas, there could well be a stable involved as the poor girl gives birth to the baby only she and Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) know she’s having.
However, Belle was also a December baby, but made her appearance on Christmas Day in 1998, when her mum Lisa (Jane Cox) went out to feed the pigs.
But unlike Amy, Lisa had no idea she was pregnant, but Belle was a welcome addition to the Dingle clan.
Getting back to run up to the birth of Amy’s baby, there has been speculation that it may be she who attacks Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) who is of course the baby’s father… Read more & comment »
