In the first visit of the week on Monday at 7:30pm, Rosie’s nursing a hangover and hasn’t surfaced yet. Sally tells Kevin that their daughter’s considering investing in Underworld and Kevin isn’t happy about it. Sally however thinks it’s a great idea and wastes no time finding Luke with a proposition of her own – if Rosie’s going to invest in the factory, she wants Rosie’s job as PA.
Fiz is growing increasingly concerned about John and despite having no visiting order, she heads off to the prison with a letter for him. She pleads with the governor to let her see him but without a visiting order, it’s clear she’s getting nowhere near him, despite the fact he’s on suicide watch. After making a scene around other visitors arriving at the prison, she realises that desperate measures are called for. John’s stunned when he’s called to the governor’s office and, via the CCTV screen, he sees Fiz chained to the prison railings complete with a banner asking him to marry her! Read more & comment »

On Monday at 7:30pm, Despite David’s best attempts to wheedle his way back into his Mum’s good books, Gail makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with him for the time being. David’s shocked at his Mum’s coldness and is isolated further by Audrey who tells him in no uncertain terms that the only reason he’s still got his job at the Salon is because she doesn’t want to add to Gail’s problems. She then sends him away on a day’s unpaid leave with a flea in his ear. After he gets the same response from Tina, David’s bereft; he returns home feeling utterly alone and is astounded when Ted announces that he’s forgiven David, and in time, so will Gail.
Sally tries to persuade Kevin to invest in Underworld, but he’s far from keen on the idea. Events take another twist when Rosie receives a visiting order through the post from John. On the day of the visit, Rosie feigns illness to stay off work, and, in the most provocative clothing she owns, sneaks to the Prison to see what John could possibly want… Read more & comment »

In the first visit of the week on Monday at 7:30pm, David keeps vigil by Ted’s bedside, but only just manages to keep the smirk from his face as Joe discusses Gary’s potential sentence.
By the time Gary arrives home, he’s already sorted out his alibi, telling Anna that he was drinking with Len all night. Anna starts to relax a bit until she bumps into Joe who tells Anna and Eddie in no uncertain terms that he blames Gary for putting a defenceless elderly man in hospital.
Unbeknown to Gary, Ted recognised him and has already pointed the police in his direction, much to David’s delight. David can hardly contain his excitement when the police turn up at the Windass’ to arrest Gary, but Graeme’s worried that Gary might drag them both down with him. Read more & comment »

On Monday at 7:30pm, Peter has no regrets as he offers to cook Michelle breakfast, but she has plenty of regrets about spending the night with him and wants to leave quickly, but as she makes her getaway, she’s seen by Luke.
A stunned Luke then confronts Peter about what’s going on with him and Michelle but on hearing it was a “one-off”, Luke decides to give Michelle one last chance and tells her he’s in love with her as he asks her to stay. It quickly becomes obvious to Luke that he’s wasting his time though and as he leaves, Peter decides to make his bid. In the first visit of the week on Monday at 7:30pm, Paula’s furious to discover Colin’s back on the street and staying with Eileen. She accuses Eileen of being a hypocrite for which Eileen slaps her across the face.
As Colin steps in trying to apologise to her, Paula screams at him, saying what he did was abuse. She leaves but Eileen’s a mess, hating the situation she’s been put in. She tries to be strong but when Paula reappears telling them she’s been to the police, Eileen’s devastated.
Ramsay tells Emily he wants to mend his relationship with Norris before he leaves for Australia but when he tries to apologise to Norris again, asking for his forgiveness, Norris counters that as far as he’s concerned, Ramsay killed his mother… Read more & comment »

In Monday’s first visit to the Street, as Dev plans his proposal to Tara, she’s putting the finishing touches to her own plan. Both agree that tonight will be an important night for them, but their agendas couldn’t be more differenet.

When Dev returns and the crowds gather, his excitement over the big occasion suddenly makes her realise the enormity of what she’s about to do. On Monday’s first visit at 7:30pm, scared of finding out something’s wrong with the baby Maria cancels her scan appointment at the hospital. She sets about her day she tries to put it out of mind but when Tony and Tom resume their bickering over Ladrags, she snaps back, obviously unable to shake her nagging fears.
Over at the factory, Luke’s onto Tony’s private investigator and decides to play him at his own game. Pulling on a Tony mask, Luke throws eggs at the PI’s car then disappears. The PI’s cover is blown when a mask-less Luke then re-appears to wave at him. Tony’s furious to hear his nemesis has got the upper hand once again but as Luke prepares for his piece de resistance, it all goes horribly wrong…
It’s not Tony but a startled Maria who walks into the factory as Luke jumps out in the mask. It’s a stark reminder of the night Liam died that leaves both Maria and Tony having nightmares. Read more & comment »

On Monday in the 7:30pm show, Luke’s enjoying lording it over Tony and constantly reminding him who’s the boss, and when a client comes in, Luke schmoozes him with some football tickets, winding Tony up even more. When Luke announces that the client has increased his order by 50% Tony’s irritated even more by Luke’s confidence.
The day goes from bad to worse when Tony’s forced to do a double-take when he spots Rosie wearing Carla’s cardigan and he has to rush out of the factory to regain his composure. Angry that Luke’s put him in this position, he decides to hire a private investigator to find out a little bit more about his new business partner. On Monday, in the 7:30pm episode, Joe’s feeling the pressure from all sides; David wants his job back now Joe has the new kitchen contract but Joe’s worried that he hasn’t even got the cash to buy the raw materials for the job. Gail tries to help Joe out but he’s too proud to accept her offer and throws the offer of cash back in her face. Eventually, Joe’s desperate so he decides to pay Len a visit to get the deal back on track – just as David walks in and finds them shaking hands.

Leanne tells Janice that she’s decided to accept the restaurant manager’s job in Leeds in order to get away from Peter. Janice is upset by the news, as is Peter, who infuriates Leanne by getting Simon to beg her to stay. Despite its status of being Britain’s longest running soap opera, Coronation Street has never made the jump Stateside. That could all be about to change if the MD of ITV studios gets his way.
ITV are said to be considering making the soap available to American viewers on an on demand basis, though they would have over seven thousand episodes to catch up on if they want to get properly up to speed!
Speaking last week at a Broadcasting Press Guild event Lee Bartlett, an American himself, is reported to have stated: “I am always working on this… this is something I personally am interested in.”
