As fans of Corrie will surely know, on Christmas Eve, Katy Armstrong and her boyfriend Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) are going to get the Christmas gift that keeps on giving…
No, not a jam of the month certificate; a baby!
And Georgia May Foote, who of course plays teen mum Katy, has been telling Digital Spy what it’s like to have such a major storyline in the iconic soap.
First, she explained that her character takes over from Faye Windass (Ellie Leach) in the local nativity play as the little girl gets stage fright.
So, in the role of the Virgin Mary, the audience are amazed at how realistic Katy’s portrayal of the Holy Mother’s labour is…
Until of course everyone realizes that Katy IS actually in labour! And in the best tradition of soapy births, baby Joseph doesn’t hang around waiting for an ambulance and makes his world debut right there on stage, with Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) acting as midwife. Read more & comment »
ITV have just announced the scheduling for Corrie’s Christmas week episodes, which we have for you after the jump…
And they’ve also now released a more detailed synopsis of the storylines for the Christmas Day episode, which airs at 8pm and is on for a glorious hour of festive cobbles fun, and the obligatory misery of course!
On Christmas Day, the Barlows are celebrating in their usual understated way, with only mum Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) aware that Tracy (Kate Ford) miscarried her twins before she had a row with Becky (Katherine Kelly).
And despite Tracy’s fears that Steve won’t want her now she’s not pregnant, he assures her that’s not true, and tells her that the only person he blames for the miscarriage is Becky.
To prove he means what he says, he produces an expensive engagement ring, and asks Tracy to marry him. Overjoyed, she of course accepts! Read more & comment »
In the week before Christmas, all the residents of Coronation Street are eagerly awaiting the big day, and are in good spirits…
All bar Tracy Barlow (Tracy Ford) that is, who’s just gone through the devastation of learning she’s had a miscarriage.
But there’s complete joy for Chesney (Sam Aston) and Katy (Georgia May Foote), who are about to welcome their son Joseph into the world!
Meanwhile, at the pub, Stella (Michelle Collins) becomes suspicious about Peter (Chris Gascoyne) and Carla (Alison King) when she comes across a necklace that Peter’s bought, which doesn’t end up in the possession of his wife, Leanne (Jane Danson)… Read more & comment »
It’s been revealed today that Becky McDonald (Katherine Kelly) is going to become trapped in a fire on Christmas Day, after deciding to burn photographs of her ex, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
As the rest of the Street are celebrating the festivities, a lonely and depressed Becky will – as she’s wont to do – hit the bottle, and after having herself a mini-Stevie bonfire, she’ll fall asleep…
However, parts of the smoldering photos will fall to floor and start a fire, while an oblivious Becky sleeps it off.
She decides to destroy all photos of Steve after learning that he’s proposed to Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) who is of course expecting his babies. However, as has been previously reported, Tracy will miscarry the twins and try to blame the tragedy on Becky… Read more & comment »
News from Weatherfield today is that scheming Tracy Luv Barlow is going to lose her unborn twins at Christmas, and she’ll blame Becky McDonald for causing the miscarriage.
However, as always, there’s dastardliness afoot, because the miscarriage is nothing to do with Becky!
More on that in a moment!
But first, Sacha Parkinson has apparently invoked the wrath of the show’s bosses by tweeting a picture of the Street covered in snow.
She apparently took the picture on one of her last days of filming for her role as Sian Powers.
She tweeted, “Look how beautiful the street looks” and attached this picture to her comment…

We all know of course that Father Christmas is a dab hand at dishing out surprises on Christmas Eve…
And for Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote) and her boyfriend Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) he’s going to deliver a very special gift; a baby boy!
However, as Chesney is stuck miles away from Weatherfield when Katy goes into labour, he’ll have a Planes, Trains and Automobiles-esque dash to get back to Coronation Street in time to see his son born.
But fear not, for according to the Daily Mail – who carried the picture on the left today – Ches does make it in time to see little Joseph Brown enter the world.
When their baby’s born, Ches tells Katy, “I can’t believe it. We’ve got a son. Our son, my son. I love you so much.”
And little Joseph will share his birthday with a number of the Street’s residents, such as Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) who were born at Christmas in 1990… Read more & comment »
