Brian Capron says Corrie live episode was “superb”

Brian Capron, who of course played Richard Hillman on Corrie, has heaped praise on the cast and crew for how well last night’s live episode went.

While appearing on This Morning today, Brian said, “I thought it was absolutely superb…

“So many incidents, plot twists and superb production values.

“The planning that must’ve gone into it was terrific.”

And when asked if soaps only stage live episodes as “publicity stunts” Brian replied, “I think that’s what people say…

“But my angle on it is that, amazingly enough, when you do a normal recording, the best take is nearly always the first take.

15 million fans watch Coronation Street’s live episode!

Last night’s brilliant live episode of Corrie went off without a single hitch, and 15 million of us tuned in to watch it!

The hour long special featured the death of Molly Dobbs (Vicky Binns) and her emotional confession to Sally Webster (Sally Dynevor) that her husband Kevin (Michael Le Vell) is baby Jack’s father.

We also saw of course Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) tying the knot as his life hung in the balance… Read more & comment »

Police deny Al Qaeda threat reports for Coronation Street live episode

As we reported earlier today, a tabloid newspaper claimed that Greater Manchester Police were taking seriously a purported Al Qaeda threat to target the set of Coronation Street tonight during the show’s live broadcast…

However, a GMP spokesperson has now denied the claim.

Superintendent Jim Liggett issued the denial to The Bolton News, saying, “I want to clarify that we have categorically not been made aware of any threat from Al-Qaeda or any other [terrorist] organisation.

“Quite simply, Granada approached GMP to inform us they were employing a private security firm to help ensure tonight’s live programme went ahead without outside interference… Read more & comment »

Fears Al Qaeda may target Coronation Street’s live episode!

The Sun today reports that police in Manchester are at a heightened level of security ahead of tonight’s live episode of Corrie amid fears terrorist group Al Qaeda may target the show.

The paper reports that police were “tipped off” that the group may target the show’s 50th anniversary live broadcast, and it seems they’re taking the possibility seriously… Read more & comment »
