It’s been revealed today that Coronation Street is set to tackle racism in a storyline which will see Craig Charles’ character Lloyd Mullaney accused firefighter Paul Kershaw – who’s played by former Hollyoaks star Tony Hirst – of being racist.
The Daily Star reports, “In scenes to be screened this summer, Paul is talking to Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson, 38) and uses the phrase ‘playing the white man’.”
Lloyd’s daughter Jenna Kamara (Krissi Bohn) will hear Paul’s comment, and she immediately tells her dad, prompting a row between the two men… Read more & comment »

We reported a few weeks ago how while Coronation Street’s Rosie Webster recovered from her recent road accident, that both she and her dad, Kevin, would fall for the charms of her physiotherapist, Lloyd Mullaney’s daughter, Jenna – and it would seem that she has chosen whose affection to return – Sophie’s!
Sophie (Brooke Vincent) has been single ever since her wife-to-be, Sian, ran out and left her on their wedding day, and it seemed that there was no sign of love on the horizon for the unlucky teenager, especially after trying to help her friend she ended up almost paralysed when a car hit her.

The stars of Coronation Street have been left feeling very uneasy as producers of the show have revealed they are about to have their “biggest clear out in years” meaning several stars will face the chop, according to the Daily Star newspaper.
Notorious for his no-nonsense attitude, new executive producer Stuart Blackburn, who is due to start in January, is reportedly plotting a huge shake up to the staffing roster in order to make the show his own, earning him the nickname the “grim reaper” by some of the younger actors.

Sometimes it’s best to keep things simple as too much messing around with a format can spoil it and that was definitely the case with the 2009 revival of Red Dwarf entitled Back to Earth.
I personally found Back to Earth incredibly self-referential while the lack of any background laughter made the programme a lot colder than it previously had been. Three years on and Dave has recommissioned the series for a six episode run kicking off with tonight’s instalment Trojan.

Coronation Street resident Lloyd Mullaney has never had much luck with women, however, he has an old flame called Mandy who he’s always retained a little spark for…
So when he bumps into her by chance, it seems to Lloyd (Craig Charles) that fate engineered the encounter for a reason, and he’s keen to have a catch up with Mandy – who’s to be played by Pamela Nomvete – but she, it seems, is not so keen.
However, Lloyd’s nothing if not persistent, so having learned where Mandy lives, he pops round unexpectedly, and is curious as to why Mandy is so reluctant to ask him in!
But when Mandy’s teenaged daughter Jenna (Krissi Bohn) wonders who’s at the door, her mum introduces Lloyd and he’s immediately curious as to why Mandy didn’t mention she had a daughter when he met with her previously… Read more & comment »

As we reported a while ago, Corrie cabbie Lloyd Mullaney (Craig Charles) is about to find out he’s a dad after a chance encounter with an old girlfriend brings about the shocking revelation.
At the time of the initial report, Corrie bosses were in the process of casting actresses in the role of the mum and daughter who are about to walk into Lloyd’s life, and in the end, they cast Pamela Nomvete as mum Mandy, and Krissi Bohn as her daughter, Jenna.
The show’s official website says of the newcomers, “As they settle into a more permanent life in Weatherfield Mandy, played by Pamela Nomvete will find a home cooking at The Rovers and Jenna, played by Krissi Bohn, working at the local hospital. But another secret looks set to rock this fragile new family and change their lives forever…” Read more & comment »

Apparently, the storyline will be that an old flame of Lloyd’s gets in touch with him again to inform him he has a daughter, and according to The Sun’s TV Biz, the news will “knock him for six.”
A show insider said, “Lloyd hasn’t been in touch with this woman for a while, and then she waltzes in and announces that he has a daughter.
“The news will knock Lloyd for six. His reaction will be pretty explosive.”

As fans of Corrie may know, when Lloyd Mullaney returns to Weatherfield next week, his best bud Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) is going to be livid when he discovers that Lloyd has opened a rival taxi cab firm…
And poor old Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) will find herself a helpless pawn in their game of cab chess as they vie for her services, telephone and operator-wise that is.
The whole cab wars will of course put former BFF’s Lloyd and Steve at odds, but Craig Charles – who has been absent from the Street as he’s been filming a new series of Red Dwarf – who of course plays Lloyd, is hoping that the show’s writers will end up making Steve and Lloyd a bromance story again.
Comparing Steve and Lloyd to Corrie legends Stan Ogden and Eddie Yeats, Craig told Inside Soap magazine, “I’d love for Lloyd and Steve to play the odd couple for a while!
“There’s so much scope for comedy in that, and it would be great Corrie tradition too… Read more & comment »

In forthcoming episodes of Coronation Street, taxi cab office worker Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) is going to be head hunted by the owner of a new rival cab firm, but the sting in the tail there is that said rival firm is being run by Steve McDonald’s – now former one assumes – BFF Lloyd Mullaney!
As fans of the show will recall, Steve (Simon Gregson) and Lloyd (Craig Charles) were not only best buds prior to Lloyd leaving Weatherfield at the end of last year after his relationship with Cheryl Gray ended, but they were also partners in Steve’s cab company, Street Cars…
However, eager to make a fresh start, Lloyd sold his half of Street Cars to Steve’s ex-wife Becky, who subsequently sold her share of the business back to Steve when she jetted off to pursue her own new start with lover Danny in Barbados... Read more & comment »

Whilst Coronation Street fans count down the days until Lloyd Mullaney is back on our screens, the actor who plays him, Craig Charles, has confirmed that this time his character is back for the long haul.
Since first appearing on our screens in 2005, Lloyd has gone from a leading character to a part-time returning one, due to a number of reasons, but Charles insists to fans that is no longer the case.

Whilst we all wait for Lloyd Mullaney to reappear on our Coronation Street screens, more details of his explosive return is being leaked.
We reported last month that Craig Charles, who plays the unlucky-in-love cab firm owner, was set to return after an extended break and cause havoc by opening a new rival cab firm in competition with his ex business partner, and best friend, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), and today pictures have leaked showing what looks like the pair involved in a chase, at Bessie Street school sports day!

The last time we saw cabbie Lloyd Mullaney in Weatherfield, he sold his half of Street Cars to Becky McDonald (Katherine Kelly) and drove off into the sunset to try to mend his heart that was broken by Cheryl Gray (Holly Quin-Ankrah).
But in reality, Craig Charles, who plays the unlucky in most things cabbie Lloyd took time off from the Street to film a new series of Red Dwarf, which will air on Dave later this year.
However, despite some rumours that Craig wouldn’t return to the show, he has in fact done so, and what’s more he’s “back with a bang” according to a Corrie insider.
The source told the Daily Mirror, “There were all kinds of rumours flying around that Craig wasn’t coming back at all… Read more & comment »

Corrie star Craig Charles has revealed that his character, cabbie Lloyd Mullaney, is headed for a “proper breakdown” in the aftermath of his girlfriend Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah) leaving him to go back to her ex-husband Chris Gray (Will Thorp).
And Keith Duffy, who of course plays barman Ciaran McCarthy, has revealed that he may well return to the show some day after his latest short stint is over.
But let’s go back to Craig first, and, speaking via the show’s official website, he revealed just how far off the rails Lloyd will go as he tries to deal with losing Cheryl.
He said, “Things are going to get a lot worse. He’s going to have a proper breakdown, he’s taken this really badly.”
In last night’s episode, we saw Lloyd finding out about Cheryl’s betrayal when Chris boasted that he and Cheryl had been having an affair… Read more & comment »
