Danniella Westbrook hasn’t even made her Hollyoaks debut yet and already the actress is eying up some new roles.
The 39 year old is best known of course as Sam Mitchell from Eastenders and returns to her soap roots next week when she appears on Channel 4′s teen drama for the first time. However, once she’s wrapped up her work on that show, she has revealed that she would really love to star in ‘Mr Selfridge’.
It’s no secret that former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook formerly had serious issues with drug and alcohol abuse, however, she’s turned her life around and now wants to help children of families who’ve been affected by the same issues.
And as we reported last week, Danniella’s transformation from sinner to saint is well underway after she stepped in to save the life of a man who’d collapsed in the street…
But of her desire to foster children, The Sun reports that Danniella explained that she feels it’s her “calling” do so.
She said, “My friends say to me, ‘Could you really take someone’s kid and bring it up and then give it back?’
“And I say yes, because if someone had offered to take my son away from me when I was really ill, I would have grabbed the chance with both hands… Read more & comment »
It’s been revealed today that the quick thinking response of former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook – who played the role of Sam Mitchell – may have saved the life of a 51 year old man who collapsed in the street.
Danniella, who recently joined the cast of Hollyoaks, apparently put the man into the recovery position and checked his airway was clear while calling 999.
The Mirror quotes one bystander as saying, “There is no doubt that without Danniella’s quick thinking things could have been much worse.

Danniella Westbrook, who of course formerly starred in EastEnders as Sam Mitchell, has revealed that in the wake of the recent scare about breast implants, she decided that she needed to become fitter and healthier, and subsequently has shed around two stones in weight.
Danniella – who’s also appeared on reality TV shows I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here and Dancing on Ice – has of course been dogged by health issues related to her former booze and drug addictions.
At one point, she had to have her nasal septum repaired after her frequent cocaine use eroded it to the point that it collapsed, so when she feared that one of her breast implants had ruptured, she realized her life needed something of an overhaul.
The Sun reports that while speaking to Closer magazine, Danniella revealed her fright when she believed her implant was leaking.

EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook has admitted that she was terrified about returning to the BBC soap.
The 35-year-old actress has made a comeback as Sam Mitchell on the show, despite the fact that the role was filled by Kim Medcalf between 2002 and 2005.
Speaking to We Love Telly, Westbrook commented: “I was really frightened to come back if I’m honest. I felt like the new girl at school.
Danniella Westbrook has insisted that she doesn’t feel nervous about her return to EastEnders.
Westbrook is due to return to the BBC One soap to reclaim the role of Sam Mitchell, which was last played by actress Kim Medcalf. She first joined the soap in 1990 and stayed for three years. She returned in 1995 and 2000 but was written out on both occasions due to her drug addiction.
Speaking to The Mirror, she explained: “The person I was when I last left was sick – it wasn’t the person I was when I first joined in 1990 and I had several years of doing good work before I got ill. People remember the horrific times.
Danniella Westbrook has revealed that she only decided to return to work because she has been clean from drugs for eight years.
Last month Danniella agreed to return to BBC soap Eastenders as Sam Mitchell.
She told The Sun: “I only decided to go back to work this year because my kids are older and Kevin [Jenkins, husband] suggested I do something for myself as I’ve been clean for eight years.”
Danniella Westbrook has confirmed that she will be returning to Eastenders as Sam Mitchell.
Danniella left the BBC soap opera in 2000 after battling with a very public cocaine addiction, she was subsequently replaced by Kim Medcalf in the role.
Danniella told The Sun: “I’m really happy — it feels just like coming home.
