Matt Lapinskas, who plays Anthony Moon in the hit BBC soap, EastEnders, has revealed the details of his upcoming exit storyline from the show.
Lapinskas joined the cast of EastEnders last year with on-screen brother, Tyler (Tony Discipline) and father, Eddie (David Essex) as part of the dysfunctional family of troubled Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd).

After we reported yesterday that rumour had it that EastEnders, who are struggling with viewing ratings, was planning on sacking Matt Lapinskas,who plays Anthony Moon in the BBC soap, the news has now been confirmed.
Lapinskas, who is dating Shona McGarty who plays Whitney Dean in real life, is set to depart from the show within the next few weeks, after less than a year of playing the antiques dealer.

Bookseller.com have announced that former EastEnders star – and ‘70s singing heartthrob – David Essex is to release an autobiography next spring.
David, who of course played Eddie Moon on EastEnders, said of the forthcoming book, “With so many adventures I felt it was time to write them down. I hope the reader will enjoy the journey as much as I have.”
The book will be published by Virgin Books in March of next year, and the company’s editorial director, Lorna Russell, said of it, “David Essex is a legend, and his autobiography has all the stuff of a bestseller…
“From his gloriously recounted working-class childhood in the East End of London, through the crazy years of Essex mania and beyond.

Former EastEnders star – and ‘70s singing sensation – David Essex has revealed that he cried when he watched his exit from the show.
David, who of course played Eddie Moon, left the show earlier this month.
Speaking to The Sun, he said, “I shed a tear or two when I watched myself leave Albert Square.
“It was such a strong, emotional way to go — plus I made a lot of friends on the set and I will miss it.”
The paper adds, “But the good news is — bosses have asked the star to return.”

Former EastEnders star Zoe Lucker has revealed that she thinks Eddie Moon (David Essex) did the right thing in dumping her character, Vanessa Gold.
As viewers will know, when Eddie left the Square to go and live with his eldest son Frankie in Spain, he ended his relationship with Vanessa by rather brutally leaving her at the roadside.
Speaking while on BBC3’s EastEnders: The New Moons, Zoe said, “Eddie did the right thing in leaving Vanessa, because he can’t trust her.
“As much as I would have loved to have seen Vanessa and Eddie run off into the sunset, I appreciate why Eddie did that.” Read more & comment »

‘70s heartthrob singer turned actor David Essex has revealed that when his character Eddie Moon leaves Walford, there will be “lots of tears.”
He added that the storyline for Eddie’s exit from the Square is “emotional and soul-baring” as well as “challenging and interesting”.
He said, “Let’s put it this way – there were lots of tears during one of my final scenes at the boxing gym.
“It was very powerful, and myself and the other Moon boys were crying our eyes out.
“The emotional and soul-baring things that Eddie has had to deal with have made it so challenging and interesting for me.
“Great credit has to go to the show’s executive producer, Bryan Kirkwood. They’ve given me some brilliant stuff to do.” Read more & comment »

EastEnders star Zoe Lucker has revealed that she thinks her character, Vanessa Gold, would love to live with Eddie Moon, who is of course played by David Essex.
Zoe explained that Vanessa has fallen for Eddie in a big way, after he was particularly kind to her following her break up with Max Branning (Jake Wood).
The 37-year-old star also thinks it would be a positive step for her alter-ego to be with Eddie.
She said, “Vanessa would love to move into Eddie’s for good and settle down with him. He’s a really nice guy.

EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas has revealed that he and his co-stars, Tony Discipline and David Essex, have formed a “musical trio”.
Matt of course plays Anthony Moon, while Tony and David play Tyler and Eddie Moon respectively.
Speaking to Inside Soap, Matt said, “I play guitar and write and sing my own songs – and I’m teaching Tony to play at the moment.
“On my third or fourth day on set David Essex knocked on my door and came in, and we had a little trio with the guitar and singing – it was really nice.” Read more & comment »

David Essex has confirmed that he is leaving Eastenders, after a very short stint on the show.
The former pop legend and heart throb joined the BBC soap as Eddie Moon just a few months ago, yet he has already called time on the role and decided to re-launch his music career instead.
David Essex is quitting his role in ‘EastEnders’ to re-launch a music career.
The sparkly eyed star revealed this morning that he finishes filming on the show this October, but his scenes will air right up until Christmas. He intends to release a new album in December in time for the seasonal rush.

EastEnders actor David Essex has told This Morning viewers that there are more “powerful” storylines ahead for his character, Eddie Moon before David departs the show in the autumn.
Digital Spy report that David said, “It’s been wonderful – really, really challenging, intimidating and it does take over your life, but I’ve been blessed because I’ve worked with wonderful actors…
“My boys Tony Discipline, Matt Lapinskas and Steve John Shepherd, Zöe Lucker and Lindsey Coulson, and of course Shane and Jessie.
“That was my circle that I worked with, and the level of performance from those actors and the pressure we’re at, it’s just incredible.
“All the way down from the top to the bottom, there’s this kind of galvanised quality of a family under pressure! And it works – I really enjoy it.

David Essex has claimed that his family have no problem with the fact that his wife is so much younger than him.
The 63 year old star – who showed up on BBC’s Eastenders as Eddie Moon for the first time this week – has four children from two previous marriages and is now married to 38 year old Susan, who is the same age as his daughter.

David Essex has admitted that his new job on Eastenders has started to ‘take over’ his entire life.
The 70′s pop heart-throb first showed up on the BBC soap last night, but has been filming scenes for months. He admitted that his first day on set was like “going to a new school”.
He explained: “It’s taking over my life, but it’s a great adventure. It was tricky at the beginning, because I was writing a film score at the same time as filming, so I was getting about two hours sleep a night! But everyone has been very welcoming, and I’m full of respect for the actors here.
