Outgoing timelord David Tennant is set to make a special appearance on spin off show The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Russell Davies told the BBC that Tennant’s stint will be a full appearance and not a minor cameo.
Elisabeth Sladen plays Sarah Jane and starred in Doctor Who with Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker between 1973 and 1976. She said she was “absolutely over the moon” to now be co-starring alongside Tennant.
David Tennant is the new host of PBS’ “Masterpiece Contemporary.”

Q: Has filming the specials been different from filming the regular series?
I think we get slightly more time to film the specials. I don’t know if that’s even true – we get four weeks to film an hour long special whereas we get about two and a half weeks to film a normal 45 minute episode. So we’ve got a little bit more time to play with but then they tend to be a bit more ambitious. Certainly this one was, and you know the fact that we wanted to film in an actual desert and there aren’t a lot of them in south Wales. So we had to find somewhere in the world that we could get to that had an infrastructure that we could use to film in and that would have us, you know. Some of these deserts exist in some less than friendly regimes. Some might argue that Dubai’s not the friendliest but they were quite nice to us.
David Tennant has admitted that after taking so much time off from his Doctor Who role last year, he found it hard to play the mysterious Doctor when rehearsals began for next week’s Easter special.
Tennant took nine months off to play Hamlet on the West End and when he returned to record the Planet Of The Dead, he found it hard to get back into the Doctor’s mindset.
David revealed: “At the read-through for Planet Of The Dead, I found it quite tricky to get into the mindset.
“I actually felt that I couldn’t quite remember the Doctor’s voice.
He isn’t the only actor to find himself in this predicament, look at Billie Piper’s new accent when she returned to the show last year.
Some of our favourite Doctor Who characters are said to be returning to the show for David Tennant’s last appearance as the timelord.
The Sun reports that Billie Piper, who played Rose Tyler, Freema Agyeman, who played Martha Jones and Catherine Tate, who played Donna Noble will join forces to take on the Doctor’s arch rival The Master (John Simm) in the epsiode which shows David Tennant regenerate into Matt Smith.
Doctor Who actor David Tennant is keen for the BBC Sci-Fi show to be turned into a musical – because he loves “a song and a dance.”
The Scottish actor is adamant the cult TV programme would easily translate to the stage, but due to time constraints, would prefer to keep a musical version on TV screens.
He says, “Doctor Who: The Musical has been mentioned. I would be up for it. I love a song and a dance. The thing about a musical is you have to commit for a year and a half and it’s eight times a week.”
Doctors have said that David Tennant should have recovered enough from his recent back injury to record a new Doctor Who special next month.
Tennant injured his back earlier this month, forcing him to pull out of a stage production of Hamlet. Just weeks after he undergoes surgery to fix the problem he is expected back on the Doctor Who set.
Executive producer, Russell T Davies, said he was “hopeful” Tennant would start filming on 19 January.
“We’ll have to be very careful,” he said. “I don’t think we’ll be swinging him on a wire on his first day back.”
David Tennant certainly knows how to give an awards speech. As he picked up the outstanding drama performance prize at the National Television Awards last night he announced:
“When Doctor Who returns in 2010 it won’t be with me,” he said.
“Now don’t make me cry,” he added. “I love this part, and I love this show so much that if I don’t take a deep breath and move on now I never will, and you’ll be wheeling me out of the Tardis in my bath chair.”
Doctor Who star, David Tennant has revealed that he is missing the cast and crew of the show during his stint on the West End stage.
The actor, who is starring alongside Patrick Stewart in a Royal Shakespeare Company production of Hamlet, is missing everythingfrom Cardiff to Russell T. Davies’ writing.
“I’m excited to be doing Hamlet,” Tennant told Doctor Who Magazine, “but I have got very at home in Cardiff. I love that crew. I love that set-up. I love the show, so I’m missing that. I miss Russell’s writing.” Read more & comment »

Tennant won the award over other celebs like Sienna Miller, Lily Allen, Madonna and Johnny Depp. He also recently swapped his Skoda for a hybrid car.

It’s not quite as pervy as it sounds, thank the (Time) Lord, but David Tennant is rumoured to be dating his on screen daughter, Georgia Moffett.
A friend of Georgia’s told The Mirror: “They have been going out together for a while now but meet up at each other’s houses so as to avoid being spotted by Doctor Who fans.
“David can’t really go anywhere without attracting attention and it’s early days, so they don’t want any distractions or fuss made about what’s going on. Read more & comment »

Actor, David Tennant has revealed that his most embarrassing on screen moment was when he had to fake an orgasm. On last nights chat show, Parkinson, Tennant revealed:
“Pretending to climax on screen is about the most embarrassing thing I have ever done.
“It was in a film once quite a long time ago. It’s only because it’s a relatively private experience, let’s be honest.
“There are all these cameras and everyone else watching you and you go for it as best as you can.
“There’s a sense that when they say ‘Cut’, you think ‘Is that what everyone else does?’.
“It’s not pretending to have sex that is embarrassing. Hopefully you’re with an actress and you’re in the same boat and you are just getting on with it.”
