Is ITV Overstocked With Programmes But Very Few Quality Productions

ITV executive chairman, Michael Grade, has claimed that the channel is currently overstocked with too many shows.

Grade blamed the problem on the gap in time between ideas being greenlit and the completion of production, The Mirror reports.

Grade said: “Because of the lead times of programmes, someone walking in with an idea then actually delivering the film can sometimes be three years, then we may not transmit it for another year.

ITV drama Demons looks set for the chop after its leading man Philip Glenister quit the show.

Glenister, who previously received much praise and acclaim for his part in BBC One drama Ashes to Ashes was widely criticised for his acting and unbelievable accent in Demons. I personally don’t think that he was the worst thing about the show. Demons actor Philip Glenister has revealed that his wife often laughs when people refer to him as a sex symbol….I can see why!

Philip, who rose to fame on BBC’s Life On Mars, told The Sun: “She doesn’t take it seriously for a second.

“I’m 45 with two kids. She knows I’m not a womaniser. She’s still a great-looking woman — for 40.”

I have to say, I went to Defcon Brown a few times during last night’s second episode of Demons… it was proper spooky!

In it, six-year-old Madge – creepily played by Kizzy Mee – believed her sister had been “taken up to heaven by an angel” but Galvin, played by the excellent Philip Glenister, suspected otherwise. Everything pointed to “half-life” involvement and Galvin figured it was the perfect project for Luke – again, brilliantly played by Christian Cooke. Read more & comment »

ITV1’s Demons starts tomorrow

philip-glenister-as-rupert-galvin
Philip Glenister, star of Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes stars in ITV’s new drama series which is a contemporary spin on the legacy of Bram Stoker’s Dracula that’s set above and beneath the streets of modern-day London.

Beginning tomorrow on ITV1 at 7:20pm, Glenister plays Rupert Galvin, a larger-than-life American with a tragic past and a zero tolerance policy to the rabble of mythical “half-life” entities that exist all around us… I suspect that may entail Jeremy Kyle’s guests… Read more & comment »
