Fans of Corrie will know that the Street’s residents often have troubles with their kids, and in next week’s episodes, we’ll see that those most fraught over their children right now are Anna Windass and Dev Alahan…

Starting with Anna (Debbie Rush) she of course made the decision to allow her adopted daughter Faye (Ellie Leach) to go and live with her dad Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) however, she’s worried that the little girl isn’t being cared for properly.

And on Monday, when Tim takes Faye to the cinema on a school night, it seems Anna’s worries may be justified. However, things are set to get worse when in the double-bill of episodes that air on Friday 26th, Tim leaves Faye home alone so that he can go for a pint.

Dev Alahan has of course been keeping a constant vigil at his estranged wife Sunita’s bedside as she’s been fighting for her life following the inferno at the Rovers, which was started deliberately by Karl Munro…

However, in the episode that airs on April 1, Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) dares to hope that Sunita (Shobna Gulati) could pull through when the doctors phone him to say that she’s showing signs of regaining consciousness!

Fans of Corrie will of course know that Karl Munro (John Michie) started the blaze in the Rovers which, as we’ll find out in tonight’s visit to the Street, has already claimed one life and is about to take another when in next week’s episodes, Sunita Alahan dies…

However, Karl – who’s now guilty of murder, or at least manslaughter – covered his tracks well on the night of the fire by sneaking out of the Bistro and back in unseen, so when the fire services finds that arson caused the blaze, the finger of suspicion will point firmly to tragic Sunita (Shobna Gulati).

The stars of Coronation Street have been left feeling very uneasy as producers of the show have revealed they are about to have their “biggest clear out in years” meaning several stars will face the chop, according to the Daily Star newspaper.

Notorious for his no-nonsense attitude, new executive producer Stuart ­Blackburn, who is due to start in January, is reportedly plotting a huge shake up to the staffing roster in order to make the show his own, earning him the nickname the “grim reaper” by some of the younger actors.

In next week’s visits to Coronation Street, it’s all change in terms of Karl Munro and Sunita Alahan’s affair as she goes back to husband Dev, and Karl’s girlfriend Stella tells him it’s over between them and throws him out of the pub!

And it certainly is a quantum shift, given that in the last visit to the Street, we saw Sunita telling a broken Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) that his pleas to her to come back to him were pointless, while also telling Karl (John Michie) that she wanted him to tell Stella about their affair so that they could become a “proper couple.”

But of course, Karl disabused her of that idea, telling her that he had no intention of telling Stella (Michelle Collins) and even less of becoming Sunita’s partner.

However, in an upcoming episode, Eva, who is of course Stella’s daughter, is going to overhear Karl and Sunita (Shobna Gulati) having heated words in the back room of the Rovers, and when she storms in, demanding to know what’s going on, she sees Karl with the wad of money that he’d given to Sunita for safekeeping… Read more & comment »

As fans of Coronation Street will know, Sunita Alahan is having an affair with taxi driver Karl Munro (John Michie) and while speaking to Soaplife about what advice he’d give his character Dev, Jimmi Harkishin has revealed that he’d tell him to throw her out.

Dev is of course Sunita’s (Shobna Gulati) shopkeeper husband, however, having fallen in love with Karl, Dev won’t need to throw Sunita out as she’s going of her own accord!

Speaking to Soaplife about what happens when Sunita decides to leave Dev, Jimmi explained that the drama takes place against the backdrop of the Street’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

He said, “Dev is dressed as Adam Ant [for a street party], Karl is Tom Jones and Sunita is Beyonce, so it is quite comical.

“Karl dives behind the counter. It’s a heightened Corrie reality and funny because he doesn’t catch them at it.

It would seem that Corrie star Jimmi Harkishin is nothing like his Street character Dev Alahan – who gets annoyed if his wife Sunita wears a low cut top – as he invited porn star Kat Lee to accompany him to the premiere of musical Chicago.

Jimmi, and Kat of course, were among a number of celebrities who’d been invited to the special event at Manchester’s Palace Theatre. The Sun reports that Kat arrived at the venue first, with Jimmi arriving just moments later.

The paper adds, “But once inside the foyer, they were spotted cuddling up as they headed to the bar. The pair then sat together as they watched the show. Afterwards, they were spotted in Jimmi’s car sharing a bag of chips.”

An onlooker in the theatre told the paper, “A few people know who this girl is and they were shocked to see her there with Jimmi. But he didn’t seem to care.

It seems that Coronation Street writers have decided to run a storyline in which Dev Alahan – played by Jimmi Harkishin – will take on the role of a housewife and mum after telling his wife Sunita that running a home is “a doddle.”

The Daily Star reports that the couple will swap roles; Dev will run the home and look after the couple’s twins, while Sunita – who’s played by Shobna Gulati – will run Dev’s shops. Read more & comment »
