ITV’s new serial killer drama, Dexter, is to be made into a video game.
The show which premiered on ITV1 last Wednesday, centres on Dexter Morgan, a serial killer who targets other killers.
Marc Fernandez of Marc Ecko Entertainment which is developing the game with Showtime Networks, said: “Our game-designers, writers and artists are going to give Dexter’s morally complex world the kind of interactivity that gamers will love.”
Dexter is stalking his next victim, a drunk driver about to be acquitted for the murder of a teenage boy. But when a fellow cop is found murdered, Dexter has to put that on hold to help Homicide Detectives
Batista and Doakes investigate a crime boss suspected of the murder. It gets even more personal when the crime boss also orders a hit on the wife of the murdered cop.
Meanwhile, the hooker-hunting Ice Truck Killer strikes again and leaves a macabre piece of evidence that Debra finds, gaining her the transfer she wanted out of Vice and into Homicide.
There was a chill of excitement tonight as Dexter Morgan uttered the first words in ITV/Showtime’s new series: “Tonight’s the night…”
You first see Dexter in silhouette as he drives through the streets of Miami. He next appears in the back seat of a businessman’s car and promptly wraps some string around the man’s neck. He directs him to a secluded place which has a series of shallow graves outside it.
He takes the man into the building where three badly decayed corpses are laid out. Dexter’s hostage is a serial killer who has killed a number of small boys. And now Dexter is about to exact his own brand of justice. In a short while, the man is naked and tied to a table with cling-film.
Dexter nicks the man’s face with a scalpel - his signature move (pay attention folks) - before cutting him up with his handy power tools.
The Miami police department and crime scene analysts have launched a citywide manhunt but are literally without a clue. They would be surprised to learn that there is not one, but two killers stalking their city’s neon pastel streets and even more surprised to learn that one of them walks in their halls every day.
Meet Dexter Morgan, an extremely likable and charming forensics consultant for Miami PD. He regularly brings doughnuts to his co-workers, has a compulsion for neatness, and wiles away Sundays relaxing on his boat, the “Slice of Life”. But hiding beneath the mundane exterior hides a different Dexter, a dark and dangerous Dexter, one with an insatiable desire to kill. Read More »
By now you are probably all very bored of hearing about the amazing new thriller series that is Dexter, which will soon be coming to ITV1.
Well….tough! I am determined to convert the masses and this is one seriously great piece of television, as long as it doesn’t end up too heavily edited to fit with ITV guidelines.
I have found this little video promo for the first series. For those of you who haven’t caught the show yet, it will give you a taster of what is to come!
Dexter will launch on ITV1 on the 27th of February.
Dexter is due to launch on ITV next month, and boy are we excited! You can find out more about the show here, and below we have a fantastic interview with the show’s lead, Michael C Hall.
“I think there are plenty of things in this world that desensitize us to violence, and to suffering generally, in the world. I think Dexter is an interesting example, or maybe an exceptional example, in that violence is not detached from the affection that you’re encouraged to have for the person who’s doing the killing, because the people he’s killing are themselves killers. So it sort of folds in on itself which I like. I’d like to think that maybe the show takes a bit more responsibility than some do in terms of what it’s portraying.
When it comes to showing as much gore as we do, I really don’t know how the public feel about it. I’m sure that it varies from person to person in terms of their relative squeamishness about that side of things. But I think the show is interesting in its construction: because of the voice over element that Dexter provides, the audience are the only ones who are in on the real secret and as a result, they’re kind of implicated. I think that is seductive to some people and makes some people squirm. Read More »
