We have already informed you that ITV is preparing to launch critically-acclaimed 12-part TV series Dexter next month. However, you may not be aware that the first series of the show was based on Jeff Lindsay’s DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER novel.
To mark the launch of the show in a British primetime slot, the novel is being re-released in the UK, and will feature a new cover based on the TV show.
You can pick the book up at Amazon by following the link below. I have already watched series one of Dexter when it aired on FX last year, however I am going to get a copy of the book and read it before re-watching the series on ITV1 next month. It would be nice to know how the two compare.
Dexter will launch on ITV1 on the 27th of February.

We told you a few weeks ago it was happening, but today we have had official confirmation, that one of the best TV series to come out of America in recent years will be coming to ITV1 next month.
Here’s a bit more about the show, for those of you who have yet to catch it.
How does a man charged with helping to solve some of Miami’s most heinous crimes by day commit the same brutal acts by night? What happens in a city where serial killers have a stalker of their own? Where does the line between vigilante hero end and serial killer begin? DexterTM is a twisted story of a police department forensics expert, who spends his off-time pursuing killers who have eluded justice. Is it possible for a serial killer to be a hero? These questions are explored as ITV1 brings Dexter to a UK terrestrial television audience for the first time.

Many of you Dexter fans out there have been emailing us, asking when you can expect to see US gruesome drama, Dexter hit terrestrial TV screens in the UK.
Well good news! We have been in touch with ITV today and if all goes to plan, you should see the show launch on ITV1 this February.

Many of you will have heard us rambling on about a show we have been getting seriously into recently called Dexter.
Gerard has done a good post on the main character of the show here, and it’s well worth a read.
For those of you who don’t know, Dexter is a police forensics officer (blood spatter analyst to be exact) who doubles as a serial killer in his spare time.
Dexter originally aired in the US on the paid for Showtime TV channel, and is now making the massive move to major TV network CBS. As anyone who has watched the series will know, there are some graphic scenes in the show. Some sexual, more violent, although in my opinion, never superfluous. Many TV pundits are worried that the in order to comply with the FCC broadcast rules for major TV networks the show will have to be edited so heavily, it just won’t work anymore.
This got me to thinking….Dexter is currently showing in the UK, on the minor TV channel, FX. However, the word is that ITV1 have picked up the show and we can look forward to seeing it on a terrestrial channel some time in the next few months. Read More »

To his friends and family, Dexter Morgan is a somewhat straight-laced blood spatter analyst at Miami Metro’s homicide division. However, behind the scenes, Dexter is a cold blooded killer who satisfies his need by hunting down uncaught murderers, hacking them up and disposing of them along the ocean floor.
In daylight, Dexter’s the guy who arrives at work with a box of doughnuts for his colleagues. He works diligently, but doesn’t draw undue attention to himself. He very successfully fakes his relationships with others, but sometimes drops the ball by not showing emotion when he probably should.
At night, Dexter stalks his prey armed with a syringe full of horse tranquillizers and an assortment of razor-sharp cutting tools. Using his access to police resources, Dexter identifies unsolved crimes and uses his skills to track down killers and administer his own brand of justice.

As US Drama Dexter draws to the end of its second series in America, the TV network Showtime is launching a new website for fans.
The network has teamed with Meebo to put together the site (www.sho.com/site/dexter/chat.do) that shows the fans additional, behind-the-scenes content.
The TV Squad reports:
From immediately after the season finale, the website features a video of the executive producers and the talent in a discussion about the show. Michael C. Hall, the actor who plays the title role, appears in the video as well as cast members C.S.Lee and Eric King.
For those of you in the UK who have never heard of the show, you have a huge treat ahead of you in the New Year when the show debuts on ITV1.
