Doctor Who: Matt Smith says his partnership with Jenna Louise Coleman is like “an arranged marriage” but she thinks it’s romantic!

Doctor Who fans are of course eagerly awaiting a proper introduction to former Emmerdale star Jenna Louise Coleman in her new role as Clara Oswin, the Doctor’s new companion…

And that will happen in the show’s Christmas special, The Snowmen, which airs on Christmas Day on BBC1.

However, ahead of it, Matt Smith – who plays the Time Lord – has revealed that his partnership with Jenna is rather like an “arranged marriage.”

Speaking to The Sun, he said, “I liken it to an arranged marriage, not that I know what one of those is like.

“It is like, ‘You are married, have chemistry’.”

Jenna however said she thought their pairing was more like a “blind date”. Read more & comment »

Doctor Who: Tardis has had an interior make-over for Christmas Special!

Doctor Who head writer, Steven Moffat, has revealed that the Time Lord’s infamous Tardis will have a brand new look in time for this year’s Christmas special as it has had a huge interior make-over!

According to the creative genius, who is also responsible for BBC phenomenal success Sherlock, the modern-day twist on the legendary Sherlock Holmes novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, has confirmed that, whilst the outside of the legendary time travelling machine will remain as it is, the inside of it has undergone a complete revamp.

Doctor Who Christmas Special 2012: See new images & clips! And BBC & ITV agree to avoid Downton Abbey & Call The Midwife Christmas Day clash!

There’s great news from both the BBC and ITV today as not only has Aunty Beeb released new images and clips for the forthcoming Doctor Who Christmas special, but the corporation has also agreed with ITV to avoid the channels’ top festive offerings, Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife, from clashing in the Christmas Day schedules!

Starting with the new images and clips for Doctor Who’s ‘The Snowmen’ Christmas special, the first image released above shows a close-up of the scary snowmen, while others – which you can see after the jump – feature the episode’s villains and of course, Matt Smith and Jenna Louis Coleman as the Doctor and his new sidekick, Clara Oswin.

Doctor Who 2012 Christmas Special sneak peek to air during Friday’s Children In Need night! See full line-up for this year’s telethon (VIDEO)

As is now a tradition, Doctor Who fans will get to see a sneak peek clip from this year’s DW Christmas special during the annual Children In Need telethon which airs tomorrow night on the BBC.

And ahead of it, the corporation has released the image above of Matt Smith – who of course plays the Time Lord – in a Victoriana velvet jacket, which will be one of his costumes for the Christmas episode.

And of course, it’s in the festive special – which will air on Christmas Day – that we get to properly meet new companion Clara Oswin, who’s played by former Emmerdale star, Jenna Louise Coleman.

BBC reveal a cracker of a TV line-up for Christmas Day 2012!

The BBC have today announced the line-up of top shows that will air on Christmas Day, and they include the Doctor Who special – which of course introduces Jenna Louise Coleman as the Doctor’s new companion – and a festive special edition of Call the Midwife.

We’re also to be treated to ‘Up’, which is Pixar’s Oscar-winning movie animation about an old man who floats off on a balloon and encounters any number of adventures. The BBC will also air Disney’s family film Tangled and The Princess and the Frog on Christmas Day.

And of course, there will be the traditional visits to EastEnders, where yuletide misery is sure to reign, and in addition, The Royle Family Christmas special that was postponed last year will dominate the primetime timeslot.

As fans of the hit sitcom may recall, writers Craig Cash and Caroline Aherne failed to deliver the script to the BBC in time to have the festive episode filmed.
