Doctor Who writer and executive producer, Russell T Davies has spoken out against a poll in the Independent, which named him the most influential gay man in the UK.
Speaking to the Pink Paper, Davies said: “B******s, am I hell! I had nothing to do with that decision.
“I mean I hope, I think, I do good work and I’ll be very visible as a gay man because I think that’s very important, but in terms of being influential when there are people out there fighting for changes in the law, homophobia in schools. That’s influence.” Read more & comment »

This Saturday night the Doctor takes Donna far into the future, to her first alien world. But on the planet Ood-Sphere, they discover terrible truths about the Human Race. As the enslaved Ood struggle for survival, a secret buried for 200 years threatens to rise up and engulf them all.
I managed to miss the last two episodes of Torchwood as part of the BBC’s plan to screw over anyone who likes their flagship Sci-Fi shows by moving the timeslots at random. But that’s a rant for another day, because thanks to the pretty darn good BBC iPlayer, I was able to watch both episodes back to back on my laptop.
The Doctor
Then there was the first episode of Doctor Who on Saturday night. Which was just awesome. Breathtakingly so. The timing of the early scenes, where Donna and The Doctor were feet apart at all times was brilliant. And of course, that completely silent conversation the two had through the windows of the office block was hilarious.
So Doctor Who kicked off again on Saturday night, and due to the new earlier time slot, I recorded the show to watch when all the children were quietly tucked up in bed.
My husband though is a bit of a Doctor Who fanatic, so he braved the screaming kids and flying toys and tried to watch the launch of series four at 6.20 on Saturday evening.
About half way through the show I heard him yell, scream would actually be a better description. I rushed to the living room to find out who had died or what emergency had occured, only for him to rewind the TV and show me this…..
I really can’t wait! The new series of Doctor Who kicks off tonight. In case you just can’t wait that long, here is a sneak preview of the first episode.
Come back after the show and let us know what you thought!

“To be honest I’m quite excited at the prospect that it could blow at any second!” quips David, “…it’s quite life-affirming somehow!”

BBC News got a great preview of this weeks launch episode for series four of Doctor Who.
Catherine admits that she didn’t actually realise that there were aliens in Doctor Who (???) and David Tennant comments on his ever increasing pile of fan mail!
At yesterdays launch of the new series of Doctor Who, Catherine Tate revealed to the press that her character will be the first of the doctors sidekicks who doesn’t fancy him.
She joked: “Donna knows he’s an alien. She knows he’s got two hearts and she doesn’t want to see what else he’s doubled up on.”
Tennant commented on the lack of romance saying: “It’s sort of the next thing to do. We’ve had a love story, we’ve had an unrequited love story, why not have this … Read more & comment »
Former Coronation Street actress, Sarah Lancashire, has been spilling the beans on her upcoming role in series four of sci-fi hit show, Doctor Who.
Sarah plays the role of Miss Foster, who leads the invasion of earth by alien race, the Adipose.
Lancashire told The Daily Star: : “Miss Foster is, essentially, a nanny, a guardian to some rather unusual children. I see her as a slightly warped Mary Poppins. She’s a strong woman. Read more & comment »

Doctor Who writer and producer, Russell Davies, has spoken out against the BBC’s decision to move the fourth series of the show from 7pm to a 6.20pm time slot.
“At 6.20pm, it’ll get 1.5m less viewers than it already has,” he said, speaking at a Broadcast event in London. “I’ve told them this, but they wont shift at all. You need to maintain slots and they’ve gone and cocked it up now. Maybe they’re right, but I think they’re wrong.”
Why does the BBC repeatedly pull stupid moves like this? They constantly move Doctor Who around so they can air football matches and other sporting events, and though I do like their talent search ‘I’d Do Anything’, I could cope with watching it half an hour later. I really think that Doctor Who is too big and too successful a show for the BBc to mess with its scheduling. They need to rethink this one!

Classic Doctor Who enemies - the Sontarans - will be revived, 35 years after first appearing in the BBC drama.
In the episode which sees their return, we will also be welcoming back Martha Jones, played by Freema Agyeman, to the show, after her stint on sister show Torchwood.
