Dollhouse actress Eliza Dushku may look pretty and frail but she seems to repeatedly land very meaty TV roles. She puts her success down to advice she received from Arnold Schwarzenegger when they shot the movie True Lies together.
In an interview with FHM Eliza explained: “He said to me, ‘Just believe in yourself, know what you want in life and don’t stop until you get it.’
E! have released some fab footage of an interview with Dollhouse’s Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku. In the clip they talk about how excited they are to have made it to their second season (even though they took a substantial budget cut to get there), how they plan to change and evolve during this season and how they intend to snag some more viewers so they make it to season three.
In this weeks Dollhouse Echo is imprinted with the mind of a teacher and uses the Sleeping Beauty fairytale to help out an emotionally disturbed 11-year-old girl deal with her traumatic past.
Dollhouse mastermind Joss Whedon has just confirmed that Amy Acker will return for Dollhouse season two.
E! Entertainment report that Amy was previously thought to have left the show, after signing on for ABC’s Happy Town. However Whedon confirmed that she will return as Dr. Claire Saunders for three episodes next season.
I am actually way more into Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse than I ever expected to be, last week’s episode where the Doll’s were put to the test was amazing.
Tomorrow night on the show, Echo and Sierra are programmed as spy hunters when a traitor is discovered inside the Dollhouse. Also Ballard gets surprising news from Mellie. Pop back over after and let us know what you thought of the most recent instalment.
Echo’s stint as a midwife doesn’t prove as laborious as when she becomes an expert safecracker, and more than an invaluable piece of art is stolen from her on the engagement, forcing Sierra to take on a familiar persona.
You may have thought you had seen the last of Summer Glau after The Sarah Connor Chronicles was cancelled but Joss Whedon has revealed that he has plans for her.
Summer played Cameron on SCC and before that starred in sci-fi drama Firefly, staying true to her sci-fi roots she is now being lined up for a role in Whedon’s newest show, Dollhouse.
Whedon told Entertainment Weekly:
“If anybody thinks [bringing Summer onto Dollhouse] hasn’t occurred to me already then they have not met me,” he says. “I mentioned it to her before [SCC] was canceled. I was like, ‘You know, we should get you in the ‘house.’ But first we have to come up with something that works.” And casting her as a doll would not work, insists Whedon. “Summer would be perfect to play an active, but she’s done that [type of role] a lot,” he says. “I’d rather see her play someone who talks too much. The most fun I have is when I get somebody who’s good and comfortable at doing something, and then I make them do something else. Summer said to me, ‘I would like to play a normal girl before I die of extreme old age.’”
Dollhouse lead actress Eliza Dushku has claimed that she made Joss Whedon write the Sci-Fi show.
Eliza said that she invited Joss Whedon to lunch and convinced him to write a show for her to star in.
“I made him come to lunch with me for four hours and I told him that he had to write me a show, not just a show, but the best show that he’s ever written and that that it had to be done and he accepted,” she said.
They’re ‘underground’, sexy and highly illegal. They’re psychological shape-shifters who can assume any persona – be it lover, assassin, corporate schemer, hostage negotiator or best friend. And they’re hired by the wealthy, powerful and well connected to do their (often highly warped) bidding. They’re the ‘Actives’, elite lead characters of Dollhouse, the series that poses the intriguing question: ‘Who do you want me to be?’ It’s the eagerly anticipated US smash-hit – and if that weren’t reason enough to make it essential viewing, here are two more: it’s the brainchild of Joss Whedon, creator of seminal cult favourites Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly, and it reunites him with fellow Buffy and Angel alumna, dark-haired stunner (and Maxim covergirl) Eliza Dushku, in the dynamic lead role. (She’s also a co-producer of the series. Is there no end to the girl’s talents?)
The Sci Fi Channel has acquired the rights to two of the biggest shows to emerge from America in the last year, Dollhouse and Knight Rider. Both programmes will be part of the channel’s UK digital spring programming line-up.
I know that personally I have been gagging to have a look at Joss Whedon’s latest offering which centres round a young woman who as a member of an illegal organization has her memories and personality wiped clean and imprinted with new ones in order to fulfill assignments catering to the wealthy and powerful. It’s great news that the show is finally coming to UK TV and though I could live without the Knight Rider remake I know many men (my hubby for one) are eagerly awaiting its return.
