As fans of Emmerdale will know, vet Rhona Kirk (Zoe Henry) is battling with her addiction to painkillers, but so far, the only person who knows the truth about her plight is her friend and colleague Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick), but she keeps pestering Rhona to tell her husband Paddy the truth…
And after a weekend away becomes a disaster thanks to Rhona, she’s forced to do just that, but at the last moment, she claims she’s an alcoholic rather than a prescription drug addict!

The Great British soap opera has become segmented in our lives, with the likes of Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks providing us with over 22,850 episodes between them totalling over 11,500 hours since they all began entertaining us, making them almost an extension of our own lives.
With these facts and figures which make the likes of the Mitchells, the Barlow’s, the McQueen’s and the Dingles such a strong influence on society, it is no wonder the divorce rate in Britain today is so high.
The average relationship life expectancy in soapland is anywhere between six weeks and six years, and whilst weddings occur almost weekly on one mainstream soap or another, successful, long and fulfilling marriages are almost unheard of.

Fans of Emmerdale will of course know that former BFFs Paddy Kirk and Marlon Dingle are now enemies – on the face of it at least – after they ended up brawling when Marlon (Mark Charnock) stopped Paddy and his wife Rhona (Zoe Henry) from taking his son Leo to New Zealand…
And as a result of that fight, Paddy was charged in court with affray and had to carry out community service, which of course put a rather large black mark on his record with the licensing authority who oversee the practices of vets in the UK.
But worse yet, part of his punishment saw Paddy’s license to practice being suspended, so he isn’t permitted to carry out any treatment on animals.
However, as Dominic Brunt, who plays Paddy, has revealed to Inside Soap, his character is soon to put his career at risk once again by helping Marlon when his beloved dog Daisy is accidentally run down by Ashley Thomas (John Middleton).
Dominic began by saying, “Paddy is definitely pining for Marlon and wants them to be back where they were… Read more & comment »

As fans of Emmerdale will of course know, Paddy Kirk and Marlon Dingle were once the best of best mates…
Even the fact that Marlon’s pregnant girlfriend Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) dumped poor Marlon to live with Paddy (Dominic Brunt) wasn’t enough to break the BFFs up.
However, when Paddy and Rhona made it clear that their future lies in New Zealand, and that they would take Marlon’s son Leo with them, pub chef Marlon put his foot down and took out a court order to prevent his ex taking his son overseas.
But of course, that has resulted in a bitter feud between Paddy and Marlon, and as we saw last week, they both ended up getting arrested for brawling on the morning that Paddy and Rhona were going to sneak off to NZ without telling anybody… Read more & comment »

Emmerdale residents Marlon Dingle and Paddy Kirk have of course been BFFs for years…
And even the fact that Paddy ended up married to Marlon’s former girlfriend Rhona (Zoe Henry) and became a step-dad to Marlon’s son Leo wasn’t enough to put a rift between the two lads.
However, when Paddy was offered a job in New Zealand for two years, Marlon was of course left with a dilemma; uproot his life and go with Paddy and Rhona for the sake of his son, or stay in the village to continue his renewed love affair with Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy).
He of course chose the latter, but unable to bear the thought of not seeing Leo for years, Marlon (Mark Charnock) took out an injunction, barring Paddy and Rhona from taking Leo out of the country.
Ever since, tensions between the former mates have been heightening exponentially, and in a forthcoming episode, their fury towards each other will climax in a brawl… Read more & comment »

As fans of Emmerdale saw in last night’s trip to the village, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) dropped a bombshell on newlyweds Rhona and Paddy when he told them that he is applying for a court order to stop them from taking his son Leo out of the country.
Rhona (Zoe Henry) and Paddy are of course planning on leaving the village in September to start a new life in New Zealand, but as neither of them have any intention of leaving without Leo, those plans are now of course in disarray.
Yesterday, Dominic Brunt, who of course plays vet Paddy, revealed that the former best friends are now of course adversaries, and while discussing the plot during an appearance on This Morning yesterday, Dominic promised that the plotline would see some “dark” scenes between the men.
Dominic said, “I think it’s going to get worse before it gets better. It gets very, very dark, and that’s great to play… Read more & comment »

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Marlon Dingle is about to break the news to his – probably former – BFF Paddy Kirk and his former girlfriend Rhona Goskirk that he has taken out a court order to prevent them from taking his son Leo out of the country.
And of course, the news is going to devastated Paddy and Rhona (Zoe Henry) who have a new life ready and waiting for them in New Zealand.
Their plan had been to go in September, and in order to go out there as man and wife, the couple are set to wed this week, and it’s at the wedding reception that Marlon (Mark Charnock) drops his bombshell.
Dominic Brunt, who plays Paddy, has previously revealed that there’s no way his character and Rhona would leave without Leo, so a dramatic tug of love is set to ensue, and inevitably, bitter rows between Paddy and Marlon will play out… Read more & comment »

Emmerdale vets Paddy Kirk and Rhona Goskirk are all set to head off to New Zealand in September, and of course, they’re taking Rhona and Marlon’s son Leo with them…
Or at least, they thought they were, but now that Marlon (Mark Charnock) has decided that he won’t go with them to NZ – choosing instead to stay in the village to reprise his relationship with Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) – he is also going to fight Rhona and Paddy for custody of his son.
And of all the days Marlon might choose to break that bombshell bit of news, he ends up telling Rhona (Zoe Henry) and Paddy on their wedding day!
Dominic Brunt, who of course plays Paddy, has been telling What’s On TV how the drama plays out.
He began by explaining that Paddy first realises something’s going on when Marlon – who is his best man – is nowhere to be found as the ceremony gets underway. However, he does then turn up, but at the reception, he tells Paddy and Rhona that he intends to fight for custody of Leo… Read more & comment »

As fan of Emmerdale will know, vets Paddy and Rhona are off New Zealand in September, and they’re taking baby Leo with them…
Leo is of course Rhona’s (Zoe Henry) son, but he’s also pub chef Marlon Dingle’s little boy, and when faced with the prospect of not seeing his son for at least two years, Marlon (Mark Charnock) decided to go with Paddy (Dominic Brunt) and Rhona to NZ.
However, that decision was made before Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) – with whom Marlon had a platonic affair last year – told Marlon that she’s in love with him and wants them to have a proper relationship now that her marriage to shamed vicar Ashley (John Middleton) is over.
In the wake of Laurel’s news, Marlon made the heartbreaking decision that he couldn’t now go to New Zealand, and initially, it appeared he’d therefore chosen his love life over his son… Read more & comment »

In next week’s episodes of Emmerdale, we’re going to see Rhona Goskirk taking the initiative – courtesy of it being a leap year – and proposing marriage to Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) however, it seems it’s not going to go to plan at all…
Zoe Henry, who of course plays Rhona – and who’s married to her co-star Jeff Hordley – has been explaining what happens to Soaplife.
Zoe said, “She’s besotted with Paddy and a comment that Victoria makes gets her thinking.
“Rhona tells Victoria that Paddy’s a romantic and Victoria suggests she do something special for him.
“Rhona has this idea which comes from nowhere really. It doesn’t take her long to decide to do it.
“She does have a bit of a wobble beforehand and she does, ironically, speak to Marlon about it… Read more & comment »

And Dominic Brunt gets indecent proposals!

Emmerdale stars Mark Charnock and Dominic Brunt reckon there’s not a snowball in hell’s chance of them being invited to take part in celebrity dance contest Strictly Come Dancing, thanks to their dubious moves on spin-off DVD, Paddy and Marlon’s Big Night In.
Virgin Media reports that while speaking with Bang Showbiz, Mark said of Dominic’s efforts at break dancing, “I think we’ve got a black mark against our names for all future series of Strictly Come Dancing after that.”
Mark, who of course plays Marlon Dingle, and Dominic, who plays vet Paddy Kirk, also revealed that they didn’t especially enjoy the challenge of being asked to dance for the spin-off.
Dominic said, “We had about five hours to rehearse and it was quite stressful. I’m not going to lie, I didn’t enjoy it massively.” Read more & comment »

Emmerdale star Mark Charnock – who of course plays chef Marlon Dingle – has revealed that he was left “snake-aphobic” after getting up close and personal with a boa constrictor while filming scenes for the show’s latest spin-off DVD.
And just in case you’re wondering, the real term for the fear of snakes is apparently ‘ophiophobia‘.
Anywho, the DVD, entitled, Paddy and Marlon’s Big Night In, features Marlon and Paddy – who’s played by Dominic Brunt – waking up after a heavy night of boozing, with no clue about what they did the night before.
And inexplicably, they discover a snake in the house, which manages to find its way up Marlon’s trouser leg!
Of filming those scenes, Mark told the PA, “The snake really went up my trousers!
“It wouldn’t do anything for a lot of the time, it just stayed still like a draught-excluder… Read more & comment »

Emmerdale newcomer Trudie Goodwin – who’s playing the role of Georgia Sharma in the soap – has revealed that despite having been an actress for decades, she was incredibly nervous about starting work on Emmerdale.
Also in Dales news today, Dominic Brunt, who of course plays vet Paddy Kirk, has revealed that he was disappointed that he and co-star Mark Charnock, who plays Paddy’s comedy sidekick mate Marlon Dingle, didn’t get to film their spin-off DVD somewhere exotic.
We’ll return to that in a moment, but first, Trudie – who is arguably best known for her role in The Bill as Sgt June Ackland – told The Sun, “It’s always a bit daunting joining a long-running show because everybody sort of knows what they are doing and you don’t.
“It’s a while since The Bill, and a very different part, [but] everybody made it very easy.
“It’s going to be good fun.”
We’ll get to see Trudie as Georgia next week, but in the meantime, click ‘Read more’ to see a reminder of her as Ackland in The Bill… Read more & comment »
