Eastenders actor, Charlie G. Hawkins, has admitted that he finds it hard to get a girlfriend who isn’t just interested in his money.
Charlie’s character, Darren Miller may have a long term girlfriend in young Libby, but off screen Charlie is struggling to find a woman who likes him, for him.
“I can’t get a girl. Well, it’s just the ones I do get are only interested in me because I’m in EastEnders and they want my money,” he told the Daily Star.

A police man has slammed TV soaps and blamed them for driving youth to binge drinking.
Pat Shearer, President of the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland said that EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale have too many scenes in pubs.

Former Eastenders actor Mohammed George has criticised the show bosses for their treatment of black actors on the show.
The Daily Star reports that Mohammed made the comments whilst filming for The One Show.
“Jonathan Ross once said that black people at the BBC are mainly cleaners and guards and he’s right,” the newspaper quotes George as saying.

EastEnders bosses have reportedly limited the amount of actors to appear in each episode.
A source told The Daily Mail: “To keep within budget we’ve been working to an average of 16 actors per show. It’s a bid to save costs.”
However, Equity spokesman Martin McGrath said: “Equity would argue that it is not wise to cut back on the quality of a programme and if this measure has an impact on the quality of the programme, we would be concerned.

A list movie star Will Smith has revealed that he loves British soap Eastenders and admitted that he would love to do a cameo on it one day.
Will has revealed that whilst he was promoting his movie Seven Pounds in the UK, he came across the BBC soap and was gripped.
Will told The Sun:
“I was just chilling in my hotel and EastEnders was on TV. I didn’t even know what it was, but I literally could not stop watching it.

On Monday, Heather and Shirley are struggling for cash and as Heather sorts through some bits in the house, Shirley says that she’ll have the rent money soon, before storming out.
It’s Heather’s last day at the Minute Mart and she tells Pat that she suspects Patrick has a surprise for her, but Pat dismisses the idea. It’s not long before Patrick tells Heather that she can leave early after handing her a maternity booklet. Heather’s eyes light up when Patrick follows her out, but she’s disappointed when he asks for her overalls.
Jean, Minty and Billy aren’t bothered about Heather’s maternity leave either, and even Shirley tells her to go home and “get on with it”. Read more & comment »

Ramon Tikaram (famous for his role as Ferdy in BBC drama This Life) will arrive in Albert Square later this year playing Qadim (Mohammed Qadim Shah) father of Amira Shah.
During her formative years Qadim was a doting father to Amira, spoiling her, indulging her and creating the princess she is today. They were a happy family until the day Amira’s mother (Shahana) died of cancer, a trauma which turned a once handsome, loving, magnanimous man into a bitter, controlling tyrant.

Former Easternders heartthrob, Ron Kazinsky has admitted that he is finding it hard to land any major roles after eaving the BBC soap.
Rob played Sean Slater, who was last seen on Easties last Christmas.
He told The Sun: “I’ve only been offered reality and celebrity based TV here and that’s not what I’m interested in doing.
“I think it’s the market at the moment. There doesn’t seem to be any work around.

Friday night’s TV was an embarrassment of riches, such was the quality of shows on offer, but it was also an annoying toss-up between watching the final instalment of Criminal Justice or Benidorm. As I don’t have Sky+, I decided to watch Benidorm and catch-up on Criminal Justice on BBC’s iPlayer, which is without doubt a superior on-demand service to ITV’s.
So which was better? Well, they were both equally brilliant, but I’ll start with the last part of Criminal Justice. When I first watched it and Juliet got sentenced to five years for manslaughter – to serve two-and-a-half years before consideration of parole – I felt it was a bit of an anti-climax, however, having thought about it, I can now see why Moffat wrote the ending that way… Read more & comment »

Jessie Wallace has admitted that she misses playing Kat Moon on Eastenders
Jessie left the BBC soap four years ago and admits that sometimes she gets a bit nostaligic about the role.
She told ThisIsLancashire: “I left four years ago now and people are constantly asking me if I’m going back.
“I’ve done a lot since but I do miss her. Other people tell me they miss her too. She was a great character to play and I do miss working with Mo because I love her dearly.

On Monday, Peggy and Phil stare in amazement at Sam’s sophisticated look for her court appearance, but a frustrated Sam tells Peggy that she’s attending court on her own as she’s not a child.
Later, Sam learns that Ricky can’t make it to her hearing and when Archie offers to go along with her instead, she declines. Sam bumps into Janine in the café and when they start talking, they realise that they have common ground. EastEnders’ Dr Al Jenkins has been a big hit on the BBC soap, apparently with the cast as well as the viewers.
Nina Wadia, who plays Zainab Masood told Inside Soap magazine : “We’ve got a thing about the doctor – we come into work with an ailment and ask Dr Al to cure us.”
Dr Al (played by Adam Croasdell) joined the soap in May. Adam has previously appeared in shows including, Holby City, Peak Practice and London’s Burning.
