Emmerdale: ITV receives complaints over live 40th anniversary episode!

Whilst most of us are still getting over the utter brilliance that was the 40th anniversary live episode of Emmerdale, it would seem that not everyone is in agreement over its success!

According to the Metro newspaper, TV broadcasting regulating authority, Ofcom, has received complaints from some viewers over some of the content shown in the first ever, hour long live episode of the hugely popular ITV soap.

Emmerdale Spoiler: Chas (Lucy Pargeter) gets arrested for Carl’s (Tom Lister) murder!

Chas Dingle has not had a good time of things in Emmerdale lately, to say the very least, but unfortunately for her, they are about to get a whole lot worse!

With the Emmerdale anniversary coming to an end tonight, having tied up most of the loose ends of current storylines, there remains one that is still lurking in the background, ready to explode – the identity of Rachel Breckle’s baby daddy!

Fans of the hit show will know that Rachel (Gemma Oaten) is currently expecting a baby after a one night stand with her married boss, Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson).

Emmerdale At 40: Emma Atkins (Charity Dingle) was terrified of live episode, Tom Lister (Carl King) is thrilled with exit storyline and Rik Makarem (Nikhil Sharma) reveals last nights mistakes and improvisations!

Last night saw the amazing Emmerdale Live hour-long episode, which boasted two wedding, two births and a murder, whilst managing to maintain comedy levels to an all-time high throughout as well.

We all watched with utter amazement at what is already been classed as the best ever live soap episode, beating the likes of its two biggest rivals, Coronation Street and EastEnders who have both attempted similar live broadcasts to mark their own shows anniversaries. According to overnight figures, a peak audience of 9.2m tuned in for the show, the highest-rated episode of the soap to date, with viewing figures reaching their high in the last 15 minutes which saw Carl King (Tom Lister) meet his maker at the hands of Cameron Murray (Dominic Power).

Emmerdale 40th Anniversary Live: An outstanding achievement and a brilliant farewell to Tom Lister aka Carl King

As we predicted a couple of weeks ago, Emmerdale bad lad Carl King did indeed meet a sticky wicket end in tonight’s stunning live episode, and his death was among the final acts in what was a truly outstanding piece of television.

Celebrating forty years of the soap, which began life as Emmerdale Farm, tonight’s hour-long live broadcast promised “all of life” in its two weddings, two births and a death, and my goodness, it delivered, and then some.

Nobody put a foot wrong, and all the main players will surely be needing the services of a carpenter to build them a whole rack of shelves on which to place their awards…

Lucy Pargeter as Chas Dingle was simply breathtakingly good, as was Tom Lister, who of course played Carl. How I hate to be using the past tense for him now! Read more & comment »

Emmerdale at 40: Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle) predicts that something ‘cataclysmic’ will happen in live episode, whilst Rik Makarem (Nikhil Sharma) hints at old cast returning for live show!

Emmerdale star Mark Charnock has revealed that something “really cataclysmic” is going to happen in the live hour long episode of the soap, due to air tomorrow night, which will “change the lives of a lot of characters”.

The celebrations began for this epic occasion yesterday, and are set to continue on par with a rollercoaster throughout the week.

Last night saw the first instalment of this week’s Emmerdale 40th anniversary celebrations, and what an episode it was.

Backed into a corner, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) found herself with two options, run off with Carl leaving everyone shocked, but still blissfully unaware that she had been sleeping with her nieces fella all year, or marry Dan quickly and run away leaving Cameron (Dominic Power) to deal with the huge can of worms that a furious Carl (Tom Lister) is bound to open.

Emmerdale At 40 – Who’s going to die during 2012 live episode? Here’s our theory!

Fans of Emmerdale will of course know that the soap is celebrating its 40th anniversary in a week of special episodes that being on October 15th…

And among those celebratory episodes is the hour-long live broadcast, which is making history for being the first of its ilk to air in its entirety on location at the show’s studios in Yorkshire.

During that landmark hour, we’ll be witness to the birth of two babies, a double wedding and of course, the murder of a “well loved” and “major” character, and here at Unreality Primetime, we have a theory as to who is going to breathe his/her last during that live episode…

Emmerdale boss says live episode is “a logistical and financial nightmare at every single level”

Emmerdale’s series producer Stuart Blackburn has been discussing the forthcoming landmark live episode – which airs on Wednesday, October 17th at 7pm – with BBC News, and he’s revealed that the organization of the hour-long broadcast has been “a logistical and financial nightmare at every single level.”

Blackburn has of course signed up award winning director Tony Prescott to oversee the live 40th anniversary episode, and the pair have had extensive discussions about planning for all eventualities with regard to what might go wrong during the live show.

But understandably one of their biggest worries is that the weather – which is not notoriously clement in October in Yorkshire – will scupper the live broadcast.

During the interview with the BBC, Blackburn revealed that at the moment, one of his biggest concerns is that there could be gale force winds on the night… Read more & comment »

Emmerdale: Chas Dingle tells Carl King she’ll run away with him on her wedding day!

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Carl King (Tom Lister) is blackmailing his former fiancé Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and her lover, Cameron Murray (Dominic Power).

Carl has demanded £30,000 to buy his silence over Chas and Cameron’s affair – since Cameron’s girlfriend is Debbie Dingle, who is Chas’s niece, so of course they so don’t want her to find out – but so far, the frantic lovers have only been able to give him £15,000.

However, in a twist to the storyline as the soap nears its 40th anniversary, Carl is set to tell Chas that he’s still in love with her, and tells her that the blackmail will be over if she goes back to him.

But of course, Chas is supposed to be marrying her current fiancé Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) later this month… Read more & comment »

Emmerdale: See behind the scenes footage from Homefields festival & Steve Halliwell is hoping bosses don’t kill off Zak Dingle! (VIDEOS)

ITV have just released new behind-the-scenes footage of Emmerdale’s music festival which is of course to form part of the storylines for the soap’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

Entitled the Homefields Festival, in addition to several bands local to the show’s studios in Yorkshire, we’ll also see The Proclaimers and Scouting For Girls performing at the show.

And of course, the festival was the brainchild of Declan Macey (Jason Merrells) who brought his sister Megan (Gaynor Faye) in on the deal, which he’s hoping will secure his financial future.

Of the festival, Sammy Winward, who plays Declan’s fiancé Katie Sugden, said of the festival, “It’s so exciting. There’s huge tents, VIP areas, the stage, people walking round… It looks brilliant.” Read more & comment »

Emmerdale At 40: Bookies reckon Alan Turner is favourite to be murdered! Plus see all new Story So Far live episode teasers (VIDEOS)

It’s been reported today that bookmaker Ladbrokes are offering odds of 3/1 on Alan Turner turning out to be the village resident who’s murdered during the live episode which is set to air on Wednesday, October 17 from 7pm.

Speaking to Radio Times about Alan – who’s played by Richard Thorp – and the odds of him being killed off, a Ladbrokes rep added that other potential victims they’re taking odds on are Carl King who’s played by Tom Lister, who’s currently the second favourite with odds of 4/1.

Village elder Betty Eagleton, who’s played by Paula Tilbrook and Cameron Murray who’s played by Dominic Power are in joint third with 5/1.

Little Sarah Sugden is at 6/1, Dominic Brunt’s character Paddy Kirk is at 8/1 while Ashley Thomas, who’s played by John Middleton is at 8/1… Read more & comment »
