As fans of ER will know, tonight is the very last time we’ll be entering the doors of County and the last time we’ll get to share in the drama, romance, death, life and everything inbetween of the staff and patients in Chicago’s most famous fictional hospital.
Created by the late author Michael Crichton, ER first aired in 1994 and became the longest-running medical drama in American primetime television history. It won 22 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, and received 123 Emmy nominations, the most of any television show in history… Read more & comment »
As the last ever season of ER is drawing to a rapid close – there being only two more episodes to go – I’m already missing it; even while I was watching it I was missing it…
In last night’s episode, we said goodbye to Neela, well, at least County did, and most of the way through the show, I was trying to remember where it was she was going… then I couldn’t figure out if we’d been told or not, however, near the end, we found out that we’d deliberately not been told so that the title of this episode would make sense… Read more & comment »
Oh the joy! Not only was Carter back, and Benton AND Carol Hathaway, but the God of all sex Gods George Clooney once again donned his scrubs and filled them very nicely, stepping back into his role as Doug Ross as though he’d never been away. He looked, and was, fabulous in his portrayal of Doug last night; it was as if he’d come home… and it made my day!
And in addition to the return of some old favourites character-wise, NBC really pushed the boat out and had Susan Sarandon and Ernest Borgnine making guest appearances as well!
In case you missed it, the major storyline throughout the episode was that several patients were awaiting transplants in various parts of the States, John Carter in renal failure at Northwestern hospital included… Read more & comment »
Access Hollywood has revealed that if ER producers had went with their original plan the shows biggest love story never would have been.
The roller coaster love life of Ross and Hathaway formed the basis of many of the shows classic episodes however originally Hathaway was supposed to die in the pilot of the series. Thankfully for Julianna Margulies who plays Hathaway, she tested really well and was written into the show on a more permanent basis. The pair returned to the show for one last episode which aired in America this week, we can expect to see it on More4 next Thursday.
Oh the horror – this is the last time we’ll see a Christmas at County! I may well need therapy to get over this fact…
This episode was filled with bittersweet moments, some sorrowful endings and a surprise or two… and ‘hash brownies’ courtesy of Abby’s old patient Roxanne who’d popped in to get her prescription filled. She intended the ‘special’ brownies to go to her friend Ida who’s a bit of a pothead, but interns Daria and Ryan ended up eating them so, given they were stoned, Banfield gave them the rest of the day off. A good decision all in all; who wants to be treated by someone who’s stoned? Actually, come to think of it, it might be a bit of a laugh, however, I digress… Read more & comment »
George Clooney didn’t play any of his famous pranks on the set of ER when he returned to film his final episode.
“There were none,” his co-star Julianna Margulies told Usmagazine.com.
“We shot everything in two days. We had no time. He was on a film schedule. I was coming from New York and I had a baby to get back to, so there was no time for pranks.”
Julianna Margulies has revealed that returning to ER felt like “coming home”
Julianna left the show in 2000, but decided to return with many of the shows former stars to take part in the final series.
“It felt as though a lifetime had happened since then… and nothing had happened since then,” she told TV Guide. “Half the crew is still there, God bless them. We were all family.”
Describing her storyline with George Clooney, she said: “[It is] not sensationalistic. John [Wells, executive producer] stayed true to what my feeling was about the characters.
“You pick up a slice of their life now. It’s very satisfying.”
Another great episode of ER opened with Iron Lady Banfied and her husband discussing the fact that his parents were coming into town for the weekend. She was not impressed and after doing her best to make him cancel, and failing, Banfield accepted that the outlaws were coming, but she refused to cook for them.
Meanwhile, Gates was trying to get Sam and her son to move in with him – and probably get into her undercrackers at the same time – but just as Tony was trying to come up with a really good reason why she should, the pair noticed a homeless man sitting in front of an ambulance, refusing to move… Read more & comment »
Well, last night’s episode was yet another fantastic trip on the soon to be dry docked good ship ER.
The poor interns are still having a tough time; they almost died last week and this week, determined to shape them all up, Banfield assigned each intern to an attending and told them to report to her daily. Brenner of course got the hot blond Tracy, but even she wasn’t enough to make him forget his burgeoning feelings for Neela… Read more & comment »
E! Entertainment has reported that Susan Sarandon is to join George Clooney for his return to US medical drama, ER.
Susan and George are said to have begun filming their scenes on the set of the NBC show in Los Angeles last week.
George rose to fame on ER in the nineties as Dr Doug Ross and has since moved on to make some serious Hollywood blockbusters! After much speculation Clooney agreed to return to the show for its final episode which airs on April 2.
Only last week we told you that George Clooney would be returning to ER for its final series, but at the time it looked unlikely that his one time on screen lover, Juliana Marguiles would be joining him.
However it has now been revealed that Carol Hathaway and Dr Doug Ross will be reunited and the pair are filming their scenes this week.
Oh what a downer… Abby left ER last night but at least we got to see Luca, if only for a few seconds.
I was all weepy after last night’s episode in which Abby finally said goodbye to County General after a decade of doing her superwoman best to save lives and be the all round good egg she is/was.
It was a great send off for her even if it was on the down-low; normally, ER farewells involve a fair amount of retrospectives and soppy melancholic “See ya” moments but this was a clean cut. Only a small crew gathered by a waiting ambulance to wave Abby off to the distant shores of Boston where she and Luca – oh god he’s fit – are to start a new life… Read more & comment »
