Eric Dane has confirmed that he is leaving Grey’s Anatomy.

The 39 year old actor has been starring in the ABC medical drama for the last six years, after joining the show as Dr. Mark Sloan. The handsome star was quickly nicknamed McSteamy, due to his rugged good looks and became a fan favourite almost instantly.

However things looked bleak for the plastic surgeon when his soul mate and on off girlfriend Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh) died in the season eight finale earlier this year, after she and a number of the other major characters were involved in a plane crash.

Eric Dane reportedly checked himself into rehab.

The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor – best known as Mark “McSteamy” Sloan – entered The Hills Treatment Centre in Los Angeles as a “preventative measure” last month after he worried that he was becoming addicted to pain relief medication, which he was prescribed due to a sports injury.

His spokesperson confirmed: “Actor Eric Dane voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility to help him get off of pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury that he suffered over the recent hiatus. He reports back to work next week. Business as usual.”

Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart are “working on” having another baby.

Eric is best known for his portrayal of Dr. Mark ‘McSteamy’ Sloan in American drama Grey’s Anatomy, with Rebecca also having a successful acting career having starred in movies such as Urban Legend and Scream 2.

The couple married in 2004, and have eight-month-old daughter Billie Beatrice together. Eric has confirmed they would like more kids at some point, hinting it might happen in the near future.

“You look at a baby like that and you say she smiles waking up. It makes you want to have more? Probably?” talk show host Ellen DeGeneres asked, after showing a picture of Billie.

Eric responded: “Well, we’re going to have another one hopefully. We’re working on it.”

Ellen was keen to find out when Rebecca might fall pregnant, but Eric remained tight-lipped. The 38-year-old added he expects them to have at least one more child, but they might expand their brood further in the future.

“We want two. We’ll start with two,” he said.

McSteamy really is hot stuff! Eric Dane who plays Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy, has become the latest victim of a leaked sex tape scandal.

Earlier this week, reports emerged suggesting there is a tape which shows him and his wife Rebecca Gayheart having sex with ex-beauty queen/Playboy model Kari Ann Peniche.

Gorgeous Grey’s Anatomy stars Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane have joined the cast of new movie ‘Valentines Day’ according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The all star movie will also star Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Ashton Kutcher and Shirley MacLaine, and will be directed by ‘Pretty Woman’ director Garry Marshall.

Dempsey will play a married obstetrician who is cheating with Jennifer Garner’s character.
