Former GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips’ home – which is a country pub – has been burgled, however, Fiona and her family weren’t at home at the time.
Fiona and husband Martin Frizell live above The Greyhound Inn in Sydling St Nicholas in Dorset, with their two sons, Nathaniel and Mackenzie.
It’s thought the burglars, who broke in via a kitchen window, stole alcohol, electronic devices and sundry items totaling £1,000.
Inspector Les Fry of Dorset police told the Daily Mail, “The thieves got away with a lot of different items. It looks like they got in during the early hours of the night.”
Fiona and Martin bought the pub in March this year for £900,000. Read more & comment »

Fiona Phillips is apparently favourite to step in for Holly Willoughby on ‘This Morning’.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “There is a desire to play it safe and recruit someone well-liked by viewers.

Ex-GMTV presenter, Fiona Phillips, has written in her Daily Mirror column today that she thinks Adrian Chiles “will shine” in his new role on GMTV.
Fiona wrote, “Although the arrival of Adrian Chiles at GMTV will inevitably mean turmoil for some of my old mates still manning the sofa, it is a move akin to a perfectly placed free-kick for him.
“The blokeishly charming One Show star inherits a programme that’s well-loved, but also tired and in need of an injection of heavyweight sparkle.
His laid-back manner, down-to-earth ease and his sometimes biting dry wit will provide some much-needed stuffing for that famous well-worn sofa…
“He will be blown away by the friendliness of the production staff and the tight-knit team, some of whom have been with GMTV since launch day 17 years ago and are people who consider it a passion rather than a job.”
Fiona had some words of advice for the show newbie too and wrote, “My advice to Adrian is to go out and paint the town red – or whatever colour West Bromwich Albion wear – and then have the sleep to end all sleeps.
“For what follows is a life lacking in it, thanks to those pesky 3am starts.”

Fiona Phillips has conceded that it may have been a ‘silly’ decision to give up her role on ITV’s GMTV.
Phillips left the show last December hoping to spend more time with her family and pursue new projects, however due to the credit crunch, Phillips has been finding hard to obtain any TV work.
Speaking to the Daily Express, she explained: “It was a pretty silly time to give up a big job. In one week I lost two programmes lined up for April and May and a Channel 4 teatime show in June, all because of money. There aren’t many people commissioning things. If I’d been paid for every meeting I’d been in, I’d be a multi-millionaire.”

This incredibly moving Dispatches documentary featured Fiona Phillips who, as well as talking candidly about her struggles with her father’s illness and her late mother, investigated the struggle faced by Alzheimer’s sufferers and their families to get adequate care and support.
The number of people suffering from dementia – the majority with Alzheimer’s – is expected to rise from 700,000 to over 1 million by 2025 and 1.7 million by 2051. One of those suffers is Neville, Fiona’s dad… Read more & comment »

Fiona Phillips has revealed that her decision to quit the GMTV sofa was partly due to a fear of developing dementia at an early age.
Phillips told the Sunday Times: “He keeps forgetting words and it’s so sad because he was such an active, intelligent man with an opinion on everything.
“I’m 47 and my mum was in her late fifties when she developed Alzheimer’s, so I am very aware that I may have only ten years left of life as I know it. Read more & comment »

Fiona Phillips is quitting ITV breakfast show GMTV after 15 years of service.
Philips revealed how hard the break would be for her saying it was:
“the hardest decision I have ever made”, adding: “I love the job.”
“I’ve got other responsibilities. The children, a home life and an elderly dad who needs me – and I’ve recognised that I can’t have it all,” she said.
GMTV’s director of programming Peter McHugh said she would be “sorely missed”.
He added: “But after all those years of getting up at 4am we can understand why she wants a change.
“Her honesty and openness have helped make GMTV the success it is. She is a tough act to follow.
“But she’s not going until Christmas which gives us plenty of opportunity to organise lots of leaving dos.”
However it won’t be the last time that we’ll see Fiona on the box. Her agent assured:
“Fiona is leaving GMTV but she is not leaving television,”
