As you may have heard during news bulletins yesterday, Tony McCluskie, the brother of former EastEnders star Gemma – whose dismembered body was found in Regent’s Canal in London – has been jailed for life for murder.

And following his imprisonment, police have now released further details surrounding her horrific death, as well as video footage of CCTV cameras that captured evil McCluskie dragging Gemma’s body first into the boot of a taxi – in a large bag – then along the canal where he was to dump her remains.

EastEnders: Gemma McCluskie’s brother Tony put her torso in a suitcase and took a cab to dump her body in a canal

As we reported earlier this week, evil Tony McCluskie battered his sister Gemma – who formerly starred in EastEnders as Kerry Skinner – to death before spending hours dismembering her body.

And at the Old Bailey, the jury heard that when he had to dump Gemma’s body, Tony stuffed her torso into a suitcase then hailed a cab to take him to Regent’s Canal, where he threw the case into the water.

The Daily Star reports, “He was later filmed on CCTV dragging the luggage along the towpath before dumping it into the water. Her torso was recovered four days later on March 1 last year.”

Cab driver Jilul Haque gave evidence, telling the court, “I asked him what was in the bag and he replied it is his system. I assumed it was a stereo or something… Read more & comment »

More details of the horrific murder and dismemberment of former EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie – she played the role of Kerry Skinner – have emerged today after her brother Tony appeared in court yesterday, charged with killing her.

During Tony’s appearance the Old Bailey, the court heard that it was a row over a blocked sink that caused him to batter Gemma to death. He pleaded not guilty to murder, but guilty to manslaughter.

The prosecution revealed that after Gemma died, Tony spent three hours dismembering her body before dumping it in and around Regent’s Canal in east London.

EastEnders: Severed head found in canal where Gemma McCluskie’s torso was found

As you may recall, former EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie went missing earlier this year, and tragically, her remains were later found in Regent’s Canal in Hackney, East London.

However, Gemma’s body had been mutilated after her death, and at the time, police were unable to locate her head, despite an extensive search using specialist divers.

But today, the Daily Star reports that police have recovered a severed head from the canal after a member of the public reported making the grisly find.

A police spokesman said of the latest find, “We can confirm that a head was recovered from Regent’s Canal yesterday afternoon. It is still yet to be identified.”

EastEnders: Gemma McCluskie’s brother appears in court, and Steve McFadden wins “undisclosed” libel damages

It’s been reported today that Tony McCluskie, the brother of former EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie, appeared in court in London yesterday on charges relating to her murder. He apparently spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.

35 year old Tony was formally charged by police on Saturday, and in court yesterday, it was ruled that he will be held on remand until his case goes to trial. Chair of the bench Cliff Lynn said, “You are remanded in custody. A preliminary hearing has been provisionally set for March 26.”

Gemma’s limbless torso was discovered in Regent’s canal last week. Police are still searching for Gemma’s limbs and her head.

Also in court recently, Steve McFadden, who of course plays Phil Mitchell, was awarded an undisclosed sum by way of damages in a libel case that he brought against News Group Newspapers… Read more & comment »

EastEnders: Gemma McCluskie’s brother officially charged with her murder

The brother of former EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie has been officially charged with her murder.

35 year old Tony McCluskie was formally charged by police last night. He will appear in at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

It’s believed that Tony and Gemma’s mother Pauline is too ill to be informed about her daughter’s death, or the fact that he son is now being held on suspicion of murdering Gemma.

Headless torso confirmed as remains of EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie

Though it was of course expected, it’s been officially confirmed that a dismembered body that was found in Regent’s canal is the remains of former EastEnders actress, Gemma McCluskie.

29 year old Gemma – who played Kerry Skinner in the show in 2001 – went missing last week just hours after attending the opening ceremony at the newly renovated Royal London hospital.

Police are now scouring CCTV footage of the area to see if they can piece together Gemma’s last hours. Her brother Tony is believed to be still in police custody, assisting them with their inquiries into Gemma’s death.

Police divers are also still dredging the canal in East London, hunting for Gemma’s missing body parts, and personal items, such as her mobile phone. Read more & comment »

Police arrest brother of Eastenders star Gemma McCluskie after body is found in a canal

Family and friends of former Eastenders star Gemma McCluskie are fearing the worst, after a torso of a young woman was found in a canal near her home.

The brunette beauty went missing on the 1st of March and hundreds of concerned people searched the area close to her Bethnal Green home and mounted an online campaign to try and locate the actress.

However, it seems she may have met a sinister fate, after police arrested Gemma’s brother yesterday, on finding the body on Tuesday night.

The 29 year old beauty, who previously starred in Eastenders, went missing in London’s West End on March the 1st and has not been seen since.

EastEnders: Pam St Clement lands This Morning role, and fears for missing actress Gemma McCluskie

LATEST NEWS ON GEMMA MCCLUCKIE’S DISAPPEARANCE HERE.

It’s been reported by the Daily Mirror today that former EastEnders star Pam St Clement – who of course played Pat Evans – has landed a role on This Morning as an animal expert.

Pam, who’s been a supporter of animal rights campaigns for decades, will present a regular slot on caring for pets.

Pam told the paper, “I’m excited to start a role I feel so passionate about.”

And the show’s executive producer, Karl Newton, added, “Pam’s passion for animal welfare is unrivalled and her charity work makes a difference.

“She will deal with everything from pets, working animals and wildlife.”

Her first appearance on the popular daytime show will be on Tuesday, when she’ll discuss how difficult it can be to re-home problem pets.
