Former Coronation Street star Georgia Taylor is set to return to the show next year, to reprise her role as Toyah Battersby in dramatic style!

Taylor was last seen on the cobbles of Weatherfield 8 years ago, when she left Weatherfield to move to London, after the trauma of being raped.

Oh, if ever there was a time when you needed your sister, it is now for Leanne Barlow, so thinks the actress who plays her anyway!

Jane Danson, who has played the feisty Battersby girl in Coronation Street since 1997, has come out and said she would really like her on-screen step-sister, Toyah Battersby, to come back onto the Street to help support Leanne through the custody battle she is currently going through.

Georgia Taylor – who’s about the end her run on BBC medical drama Casualty – has revealed that she’d love to return to Coronation Street to reprise her role as Toyah Battersby.

Fans will recall that Georgia left Corrie in 2003 when her character left Weatherfield to find her fortune in London after her BFF Maria Sutherland – who is now of course Maria Connor and played by Samia Smith – had an affair with Toyah’s boyfriend.

Maria became pregnant, but subsequently aborted the baby.

As Toyah, Georgia had one of the soap’s biggest and most controversial storylines when she was raped and beaten in 2001.

Her attacker – who turned out to be Toyah’s new friend Phil Simmonds, who was played by Jack Beam – left her for dead, but fortunately, Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) found her alive, but in a bad way, the next morning.

For a while, Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) was suspected, but cleared on DNA evidence. Read more & comment »

It’s been reported today that Casualty stars Ben Turner and Georgia Taylor – who play the roles of Jay Faldren and Ruth Winters – are leaving the show.

And it seems the show’s bosses have a “dramatic” end in store for characters when they are seen for the last time on our screens just before Christmas.

A spokesperson for the show told Digital Spy, “After four action-packed years playing Dr Ruth Winters in Casualty, Georgia Taylor has decided to leave the show.
