Kind of hijacking Carlsberg’s famous saying, Hotel GB got off the ground tonight with the announcer saying “If Channel 4 did hotels…”
And that’s kind of what Hotel GB is from the ground up – a brilliant initiative by Channel 4 to parade out their best known stars in an ingenious project that recalls the multi-camera reality angle of Big Brother with a good cause – that of inspiring unemployed people to get off their arses and get into work.

Gordon Ramsay would run the restaurant and Mary Portas would take charge of the rooms. Gok Wan would be running the bar; Phil Spencer would be Maitre d’; and Dr Christian Jessen would head up the gym. Kim Woodburn would take on Head of Housekeeping, Kirstie Allsopp would dazzle as Concierge and Katie Piper run the Spa. And Hilary Devey might even pop in for a surprise appearance…

Television presenter and fashion guru Gok Wan has landed his own dating show for British television.
The How To Look Good Naked presenter will be hosting Baggage, a British version of an American show hosted by Jerry Springer. It will be an eight-part series due to air later this year.
In the show, already airing in America and Australia, potential partners are picked by contestants who gradually reveal their secrets and flaws.

Gok Wan is set to become the metrosexual’s answer to Cilla Black as he’s to host a dating show on Channel 4 entitled, Baggage.
The new show, which is set to air later this year, will apparently feature singletons who are looking for love – and/or wannabe reality TV stars who couldn’t give a toss about finding love – who will “gradually reveal their secrets and flaws” which are “hidden in suitcases.”
Ah see what they did there? Baggage… suitcase. Clever stuff.
A Channel 4 insider told The Sun’s TV Biz, “Bosses really like Gok and they think he will be perfect for a dating show.
“It is hoped Baggage could become as big as Cilla Black’s Blind Date.”
Well with Gok at the helm, it’s surely going to succeed as he has a proven track record with C4 already, having hosted numerous shows about fashion, self-image, and even cookery… Read more & comment »

Gok Wan is travelling back to his ancestral home to explore the largely unseen world of Chinese mass production, and meet the people working in the factories that supply the West.
China is a manufacturing colossus and Britons are surrounded by products ‘Made in China’ every day, from cotton bed sheets to toothbrushes, mobile phones and even London black cabs. The Chinese produce goods cheaply yet they are well made: how are they able to produce such enormous volumes of products the UK is now so dependent on?

Gok Wan is reportedly about to venture into the field of TV cookery with a new show about Chinese food.
Gok, who has of course previously hosted Channel 4 show, How to Look Good Naked and Gok’s Fashion Fix, will co-present the show with his restaurateur chef dad John.
A C4 insider told the Sun’s TV Biz, “Gok can’t wait to fire up his wok and showcase his other great passion in life, Chinese cooking.

Still it seems that continues working and traveling is catching up with our favourite stylist.
Today Gok had to cancel a nice night out watching Katherine Jenkins as he pulled his back, not for the first time apparently.

Fashion guru Gok Wan has revealed that when he was a kid, his main ambition in life was to become a farmer.
During an interview with Dannii Minogue for MyDaily.co.uk., he said, “My very earliest ambition was to be a farmer before I realised I don’t like dirt…
“And then that all went out of the window and I wanted to be an actor.”
He added, “I was desperate to be an actor or a comedian, that was what I wanted to do when I was young.
“So I went off to drama school and I was told that I was the worst actor in the entire world, but had quite good communication skills.”

Fashion and lifestyle adviser Gok Wan has revealed that he’d love to host his own chat show.
37 year old Gok – who was bullied as a child – told BANG Showbiz that in the future, he’s hoping to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Oprah Winfrey, and draw on his own experiences to help others with a “fabulous” new talk show.
He said, “I would absolutely love to host my own chat show at some point over the coming years.
“Working on shows like ‘How to Look Good Naked’ have allowed me to help women to improve themselves and making people feel more confident is something I feel passionate about.
“I went through a lot as a teen and I think I could really help people going through similar problems in their lives. It would be fabulous!”
Gok – who’s also the ambassador for Vodafone’s World of Difference programme – said that he advises women who are struggling with body image to, “embrace” their figures. Read more & comment »

Sheridan Smith has always seemed like the kind of girl who’d be game for a laugh and she proved it this week, when she stripped off in front of a large crowd.
The Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps actress was at a fundraising event with Channel 4 ‘How To Look Good Naked’ host Gok Wan, when he convinced her to strip down into just her pants and stockings, in front of the venue’s audience.

Channel 4 bosses have revealed that they will not be making a new series of ‘How To Look Good Naked’ this year.
The show – in which fashion stylist Gok Wan encourages women and men who are insecure with their bodies to strip nude for the camera – first took to the air in 2006 and catapulted the British Chinese presenter and fashion expert to fame seemingly overnight.
However TV executives have confirmed that they have no firm plans for a future series, telling The Sun:
