The Sun reports:
MEREDITH Grey looks set to finally get McDreamy all to herself with the news that a Grey’s Anatomy spin-off is in production.
The new show - which has been given the working title Private Practice - will follow Addison Montgomery Shepherd (Kate Walsh), wife of Meredith’s hunky love interest Dr Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).
Grey’s writer Shonda Rhimes has Addison leaving Seattle Grace for Santa Monica, California, to work along-side her old med-school pals at their health cooperative, Oceanside Wellness Group.
Among her new colleagues is a general practitioner played by Taye Diggs (How Stella Got Her Groove Back), who told People magazine the cast had “great chemistry”.
Diggs was coy when asked to spill the beans on any key plot details.
“Plot what? Secrets?” he said. “I can’t tell you! It’s a secret.”
A two-hour Grey’s episode which will introduce the new characters is set to air in the US in May.

After one of its main actors publicly used a gay slur towards one of his fellow co-stars last year, Grey’s Anatomy producers were no doubt surprised to have won the award for outstanding individual episode at the GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) media awards.
The Alliance demanded an apology from the show in January, after Grey’s Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington allegedly used a derogatory term about co-star TR Knight last year.
Very forgiving people!
