So, your kids have roped you into some form of Halloween sleepover or similar, and you’ve been out and done the trick-or-treating, your kitchen’s flooded from bobbing for apples and someone’s wee weed when you turned the lights out, but what then?
Well, assuming you manage to peel them off the ceilings and walls after they get hyped up on all that sugar, why not plonk them in front of a few films? Here are our top 5 suggestions for kid-friendly but still mildly scary films to rent out this weekend. We can’t guarantee there’ll be dry sheets all round but, hey, fingers crossed!

Many of you will have been watching Dead Set this week – and awesome it’s been so far – but there are times when, during the filming or broadcasting of horror films, weird and inexplicable things happen for real.
There are literally hundreds of reports of minor but spooky incidents happening on movie sets, but by the far the most chilling were those that happened during filming of The Ring 2 and even worse events surround the entire Poltergeist series of movies.

In our run-up to Halloween, we’re taking a look at movies and TV shows that are creepy, scary and ghoulish, and today, it’s the turn of movie witches. But which witchy film is scariest? You decide!
For me, the scariest witch ever has got to be the witch in The Wizard of Oz. She haunted my childhood dreams and I lived in mortal fear of anyone with a basket attached to their push bike for years. I was genuinely relieved when the house fell on her and killed her!
So let’s take a look at the possible candidates for Which Witch is Scariest and which top six witch movies we recommend you rent out to spell fear and or a good laugh this weekend…
