The most awful thing about series two of sci-fi TV show Heroes, is the terrible Irish accents. I have caught quite a lot of the series on youtube etc, and at the start of the second season, Peter Petrelli finds himself in County Cork, Ireland with a bunch of local criminals.
I may have been more aware of the accents, due to the fact that I myself am Irish, but they were dire and unconvincing and seriously amateurish for such a huge TV show that airs worldwide.
It seems now that the decision to hire American actors to play Irish men was a conscious decision made by the Heroes bosses, because they didn’t think the Irish actors sounded Irish enough. Read more & comment »

Heroes star Leonard Roberts revealed he’s a fan of the London Underground on GMTV this week.
The actor, who plays D L Hawkins in the sci-fi series, said he loves whipping out his Oyster card while travelling around the Capital.
“Public transport is the best way to see a city - it’s the best way to learn it. It’s my first time here and it’s been great.”
While the rest of us would rather walk through walls to get to work, Roberts, who’s staring in The Viewing Room at London’s Arts Theatre, said: “I Keep it real.
“I see people on the tube every morning asking me why I’m here?” Adding if anyone spots him, then “someone could help me with my Oyster card.”

Die hard Heroes fans had hoped that with the end of the US writers strike in sight, we may be treated to further Heroes episodes at some point this year.
Series Two is due to hit BBC Two in the next few months, but it was cut short, as the writers strike stopped the series midway.
We had hoped that once the strike ended, the missing episodes would be rushed out, there completing series two.
But Heroes actress, Hayden Panettiere revealed to Ain’t It Cool News that new shooting for series three will begin in April. It is now expected that Heroes series three will air in the US this autumn, and therefore hit our screens sometime in 2009. Read more & comment »

The man behind hit Sci-Fi TV series, Heroes, has apologised for what has been widely recognised as a disappointing second series to date.
Many American fans watching the series have complained that the pace is too slow, and the storytelling is boring, these are both things that Tim Kring has vowed to change.
Kring commented to Entertainment Weekly:
”We assumed the audience wanted season 1 — a buildup of intrigue about these characters and the discovery of their powers. We taught [them] to expect a certain kind of storytelling. They wanted adrenaline. We made a mistake.”
Kring also regrets recent romanctic attachments on the show, in particular sticking Claire (Hayden Panettiere) with a super-dud boyfriend and forcing Hiro to moon over a cutesy princess. ”I’ve seen more convincing romances on TV,” he admits. ”In retrospect, I don’t think romance is a natural fit for us.” Read more & comment »

We recently reported that due to the imminent writers strike in the US, Heroes producers have put a stop on all work and filming on Heroes: Origins, a planned spinoff to the main show.
It seems that due to the same strike, the people behind the insanely popular sci-fi show are also considering prematurely ending their second season with an episode that is due to air in the US on the 3rd of December.
Heroes second season differs from the first in that instead of concentrating on one main story arc, each episode will now contain two or three smaller arcs. A number of these arcs and storylines were due to be wrapped up in the December 3rd show, and show insiders have revealed that a new ending is being filmed and the producers are seriously considering ending the second season at this point and carrying all remaining episodes over into the next season. NBC sources have revealed that the network is putting a hold on the six part Heroes spinof, Heroes: Origins, partly because of the predicted writers strike in the US.
The show had attracted big names such as Eli Roth, Kevin Smith and Michael Dougherty (Superman Returns) and was set to air early next year while Heroes was on hiatus.
NBC has now stopped work on the production indefinitely, however sources suggest that the may be revived in the future, possibly as early as next season.
