Last night was of course one of the biggest nights of the year for the UK’s top soaps as the cast and crew of our top serial dramas attended the glitzy British Soap Awards 2013…

Nicki burst on to our Hollyoaks screens earlier this year as Maxine Minniver, the older, and uncannily identical sister of show favourite Mitzeee (Rachel Shenton).

Hollyoaks has announced the arrival of a new character, Lindsey Butterfield, played by Sophie Austin.

Lindsey will make her mark on the village as the fiancé of eldest Roscoe brother, Joe (Ayden Callaghan) and will make her Hollyoaks debut early next month.

Hollyoaks favourite, Tom Scurr, has revealed his character, Barney Harper-McBride, has been confirmed as leaving the show!

One of the final remaining, non-psychotic, non-dropping-out current Uni students, Barney has seen his fair share of action for the almost two years since he joined the show, introduced as one of five new students who arrive to study at Hollyoaks Community College.

After the much-anticipated wedding day murder of Texas Longford in Hollyoaks last week, Danny Mac who plays one of the main suspects in the investigation has come out to praise writers, and his co-star James Atherton, for the plot.

Mac’s character Dodger was instantly arrested after Texas (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove) was pushed from her honeymoon suite window after police found CCTV footage of the pair arguing just before the murder.

Fans of Hollyoaks will be delighted to know that show favourite Mercedes McQueen is going to be in the show for at least another year.

According to the Daily Star newspaper the actress who plays her, Jennifer Metcalfe, has signed a new contract with the hit Channel 4 soap after being promised that her character will be given some really “explosive” storylines.

Pregnant shop assistant, Sinead O’Connor, is set to go into labour unexpectedly, with only the former object of her bullying, Esther Bloom, to help deliver her baby girl.

Fans of the hit Channel 4 soap will know how Sinead (Stephanie Davis) spent most of last year, and the earlier part of this one, bullying Esther Bloom (Jazmine Franks) to the point where she attempted to take her own life.

Best known for playing feisty Cheryl Brady in the hit Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, Bronagh is joined by three former Hollyoaks co-stars Emmett J Scanlan, Gerard McCarthy and Karen Hassan for this new series, in which she plays the wife of Belfast’s first serial killer.

It would seem that the much-anticipated arrival of former EastEnders actress, Gillian Taylforth, in Hollyoaks as the mother of five wayward sons, will be explosive!

As previously reported Gillian, who starred as Kathy Beale in the award-winning BBC soap EastEnders, is set to join her two sons, Robbie (Charlie Wernham) and Freddie (Charlie Clapham) later this month as Sandy Roscoe, along with her three other sons, and it would seem that drama follows her as she clashes with son Robbie straight away!
