We are quite jealous of Dawn French already but by the time we see her on Comic Relief tomorrow night, we’re pretty sure that we’ll never want to see the comedienne on our screens ever again.
Much as we loved the buxom funny woman, it hardly seems fair that she’s already got to snog Johnny Depp, Hugh Grant and George Clooney is ready to add yet another Hollywood star to her list, while we can’t even get within touching distance.

Homeland executive Howard Gordon is planning to revamp the show for the third series.
The Showtime drama’s writing team are currently working on new episodes and while they are planning to shake up the show slightly, they insist any changes will be positive. Read more & comment »

Homeland actor David Harewood has defended a plot which saw his character David Estes plan to kill former enemy Nicholas Brody.
CIA counterterrorism director Estes called off the assassination of Brody, played by Damian Lewis, at the end of the second series of the Showtime programme but ended up coming to a grisly end himself after he died in a suicide bombing of the CIA headquarters. Read more & comment »

Homeland star Morgan Saylor has hinted there are some big changes to come in the season two finale of the show.
The actress is set to take on bigger plot-lines and is excited to see her character develop in the next series of the popular American drama.
Morgan, who plays Dana Brody, has become involved in a hit-and-run storyline and is delighted to be the focus of the plot.
She told the Los Angeles Times: “It was a surprise. My character got a little bigger at the end of the last season, but this season I have my own plot-line.
“It’s crazy. Each script came out and it was juicier and juicier. And I was excited, but so nervous and scared that I wouldn’t be able to carry it out.” Read more & comment »
Fans of hit drama Homeland - which recently came in for criticism from former hostage John McCarthy – will no doubt be pleased to hear that Channel 4 have snapped up the rights to air a third series of the US show.
The broadcaster made the move after the show’s current run – which debuted last week – recorded a whopping 3million viewers.
The Sun reports, “Channel 4 bosses had feared another channel could step in to pinch the show, as happened with Lost which was nabbed by Sky in 2006.”
However, though Channel 4 will definitely now air a third run, it hasn’t actually been confirmed by the show’s bosses that it’s to be commissioned for another year. But that said, the show is also hugely popular across the pond, so it’s fairly certain to be renewed… Read more & comment »
I think it’s fair to say that the majority of people who watched it were completely gripped by Homeland season one, as we all had our theories on whether or not Damien Lewis’ Nicholas Brody was in fact working for Al-Qaeda.
By the end of the series we found out that he was indeed working for Al-Qaeda chief Abu Nazir as he wanted to avenge the death of Nazir’s son whom he tutored and bonded with.
It’s fair to say that Homeland has been one of the biggest successes on Channel 4 for a long time with the ratings steadily climbing on a weekly basis as everybody was gripped by the story of Claire Danes’ unstable CIA Agent Carrie Matheson and Damian Lewis’ marine Nicholas Brody who may or may not have been a terrorist.
Since the first season ended the show became the big winner at last fortnight’s Emmy Awards picking up three major accolades while it has even been revealed that Barack Obama is a massive fan of the show. To honour loyal British fans of the show Channel 4 is airing Homeland less than a week after it is shown in the USA while it is confident that the ratings will continue to rise despite it going up against the mighty Downton Abbey. Though I won’t spoil any major plot developments in this preview I will talk about some elements of the story so if you want to go into Sunday’s episode completely fresh than stop reading now.
Journalist John McCarthy – who was of course held hostage alongside Brian Keenan in Lebanon for just over five years – has hit out at American drama Homeland, branding their depiction of Middle East tensions as “ridiculous.”
Homeland focuses on the actions of US war hero and former marine Nicholas Brody, who’s played by Damian Lewis.
Of his role, Lewis claimed he took inspiration for his portrayal of the character from ‘An Evil Cradling’, which is Brian Keenan’s book about the years he was held hostage in Lebanon by terror group Islamic Jihad.
Speaking to the Radio Times about the storylines in Homeland, McCarthy said, “My concern is that, with the flashbacks and hints and really horrible violence we see, his conversion is almost like titillation – let’s keep watching… Did he really kill his comrade?” Read more & comment »
