Newlyweds Declan and Katie Macey have barely finished picking confetti out of their hair when they find themselves having one hell of a row over Katie’s part in scheming to get Declan to throw his nephew Robbie (Jamie Shelton) out of Home Farm…

And as we’ll see in episodes that air as of November 22nd, their row sets into motion a chain of events that will see Katie fighting for her life as Declan struggles to cope with the thought that he’s indirectly responsible for her demise.

As Jason Merrells, who of course plays Declan, explained to Radio Times, it all begins when his character storms off in a temper after telling Katie that he’s disgusted with the way she manipulated him over Robbie.

She fights back that she had to resort to underhand measures to open Declan’s eyes to how horrible Robbie is, but, disappointed with his new bride, Declan doesn’t want to hear it, and as he hops on a quad bike and roars off, he isn’t at first aware that Katie’s about to follow him with tragic consequences… Read more & comment »

As fans of Emmerdale will doubtless know, as part of the show’s 40th anniversary celebrations, Home Farm owner Declan Macey will be seen staging a music festival which is his last ditch attempt to rescue his finances from the dire straits they’re currently in.

However, during the arranging of the Homefields festival, Declan has had to put up with his scheming and odious nephew Robbie (Jamie Shelton) in order to keep his sister Megan (Gaynor Faye) on-side, given that she’s the brains behind the festival…

But given that the festival is going to prove to be a huge success, we might therefore assume that after it, once all the money’s in the bank, Declan may be in a position to finally insist that Robbie, and possibly Megan, leave Home Farm.

We will of course keep you posted on any spoilers about the post-festival goings on, but for now, Jason Merrells who of course plays Declan has been talking to the Daily Star about the storyline.

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Home Farm Estate owner Declan Macey (Jason Merrells) is gambling his finances – in an all-or-nothing deal – on a music festival on Home Farm land being a success…

He of course enlisted the help of his business expert sister Megan (Gaynor Faye) in making the festival the money spinner he needs it to be in order to save his business from going under, and it’s been months in the planning now.

And today, The Sun’s TV Biz has revealed that the festival, which is entitled The Homefields Festival, will go ahead, making it the first ever actual music festival to be “built from scratch” for a TV soap.

Things between Emmerdale lovers Katie Sugden and Declan Macey were going ever so well, until Declan’s nephew Robbie arrived on the scene that is – he is of course Megan’s son who she had adopted when he was a baby – and ever since, Robbie has been goading and annoying Katie to the point where she gives Declan an ultimatum…

As fans of Emmerdale will know, we recently learned that ruthless business woman Megan Macey (Gaynor Faye) had a son when she was younger, but she gave him up for adoption.

However, her brother Declan Macey, took it upon himself to hunt down Megan’s son, and to do so, he hired a private detective, who, this week, will give Declan the news that he’s found the boy, who’s now of course a young man.

Declan is delighted to learn that his nephew, Robbie (Jamie Shelton) actually lives quite near by, and given that the couple who adopted him have passed away, Declan thinks the timing of the whole thing is ideal…

But according to Jason Merrells, who of course plays Declan, Megan’s not going to be pleased with her brother for interfering in her life.

When he finds out that his daughter Mia is once again seeing cheating Adam Barton, doting dad Declan Macey vows to ruin the entire Barton family!

According to MSN, Declan – who’s played by Jason Merrells – will first learn that the couple are once again an item in forthcoming episodes, but of course, he knows that Adam had an affair with Mia’s mother Ella, but Mia has no idea.

Jason said of the storyline, “He’s [Declan] going to follow through on his threat, and his threat was he’s going to go for the whole family.”

Jason Merrells had reservations about joining the cast of ‘Emmerdale’.

The actor admitted he had “stupid preconceptions” about appearing in the soap until late series producer Gavin Blythe – who recently passed away at the age of just 41 – convinced him otherwise.

Emmerdale’s newest – and in my opinion, hunkiest – recruit, Jason Merrells, has told GMTV viewers this morning that, despite rumours of a “love triangle” between his character Declan, and Natasha and Maisie Wylde, it won’t turn out to be the steamy ménage a trois that it was hyped to be.

Declan’s a wealthy business man who has an instant attraction to Natasha – who’s played by Amanda Donohoe – but Jason reckons that although there will be a storyline in which Declan dates Maisie, it’s to be a “very innocent date.”
