There’s very sad news this morning in that little Sophie Firth, who played the role of Nicola and Jimmy King’s baby Angelica on Emmerdale, has died after succumbing to injuries sustained after she suffered horrendous burns.
Sophie, who was just three years old, died after receiving 70% burns when a dress she was wearing set alight. She was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital and transferred to the burns unit, but lost her fight for life on Tuesday, nine days after the terrible accident. Her mum and dad Amy and Neil were with the little girl when she passed away.
The accident apparently happened at the family’s home in Skellow, South Yorkshire on December 2. Sophie underwent a skin graft last Friday, but she went into multiple organ failure after contracting an infection.

Fans of Emmerdale will of course know that during last week’s landmark hour-long live broadcast, Carl King was murdered by Cameron Murray, however, as events panned out, both Chas Dingle and Carl’s brother Jimmy thought they were in fact responsible for Carl’s death!
But of course, though Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Jimmy did in fact cause Carl (Tom Lister) to have head injuries, they weren’t fatal, but the brick to the head that Cameron (Dominic Power) inflicted was.
Prior to the live show airing, the identity of which character was to die was a closely guarded secret – but we did of course predict that it would be Carl – so the other cast member weren’t permitted to discuss how they felt about losing Tom as a cast member.
However, now they of course can, and Nick Miles, who plays downtrodden Jimmy, has said that the on-screen death feels very real.

Chas Dingle has not had a good time of things in Emmerdale lately, to say the very least, but unfortunately for her, they are about to get a whole lot worse!

Last night saw the first instalment of this week’s Emmerdale 40th anniversary celebrations, and what an episode it was.
Backed into a corner, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) found herself with two options, run off with Carl leaving everyone shocked, but still blissfully unaware that she had been sleeping with her nieces fella all year, or marry Dan quickly and run away leaving Cameron (Dominic Power) to deal with the huge can of worms that a furious Carl (Tom Lister) is bound to open.

Fans of Emmerdale will of course know that the show’s landmark 40th anniversary celebrations begin today and continue all week ,with the jewel in the crown being the live broadcast on Wednesday…
We have all the details you’ll need to access special behind-the-scenes webcams on the big night – more on that shortly – but first, there’s at least one of the show’s stars who very much isn’t looking forward to the hour-long live episode!
Nick Miles, who plays the long-suffering gonk Jimmy King has told TV Biz that he’s dreading the live show.
He said, “I’m unenthusiastic about it. We shouldn’t be doing it. I’m not impressed.
“We seem to be doing it for the sake of it, because it’s become a soap tradition on an anniversary.

Fans of Emmerdale will of course know that the soap is celebrating its 40th anniversary in a week of special episodes that being on October 15th…
And among those celebratory episodes is the hour-long live broadcast, which is making history for being the first of its ilk to air in its entirety on location at the show’s studios in Yorkshire.

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Nicola King is currently imposing a sex ban on her hapless hubby Jimmy, and she says the ban will remain in place until he agrees to have a vasectomy.
However, Jimmy (Nick Miles) is very much against the idea of having the snip, but he’s struggling to cope with his enforced monk-like existence…
So, he decides to call Nicola’s bluff, and he tells her that if she won’t change her mind on the subject, he’s leaving her!

Nick Miles, who of course plays sappy Jimmy King in Emmerdale, has told Inside Soap magazine that he wants the show’s writers to make his character less of a push over…
And he’d especially like Jimmy to “be more assertive” with his brother Carl King, who’s played by Tom Lister.
Nick said, “I would like for him to be a bit more assertive with Carl – and I’m trying to get that written in.
“When I was turning on the Christmas lights in Lincoln, a fan said, ‘Are you as soft as Jimmy?’
“It was an awful thing to be asked, as I don’t think of Jimmy as being soft. I avoided the question like a politician…
“But it really made me think.”
Nick – who’s also starred in Heartbeat, Silent Witness, The Bill and Soldier Soldier – went on to reveal that his character has some big storylines coming up this year, which is of course the show’s 40th anniversary.

Emmerdale star Nicola Wheeler has revealed that she thinks Nicola and Jimmy King’s ailing marriage could be saved by adding a love-hate element to their fiery relationship.
Speaking to Inside Soap, Nicola – who of course plays Nicola King – explained that in a forthcoming episode, Nicola and Jimmy will spend the night together.
Of that, she said, “Nicola thinks that their night together is nothing more than a mistake.

Emmerdale’s Jimmy King, who’s played by Nick Miles, is about to do something he’s going to regret; he’s going to sleep with Gennie Walker (Sian Reese-Williams).
Neither Jimmy nor Gennie have had much luck in love recently, with Jimmy hopelessly trying to win back his estranged wife, Nicola, but after a night bemoaning their situations to each other and too much wine, one thing appears to lead to another.

Nicola Wheeler, who plays Nicola King on Emmerdale, has told Inside Soap that she hopes her character doesn’t back down on her principles or “compromise” in her ongoing marital battlers.
Nicole has of course split from husband Jimmy, and she’s desperate to stop him from having contact with their daughter Angelica, which has forced Jimmy to enlist others, mainly Nicola’s dad Rodney, to help him see the little girl in secret.

That surprise is her son, Elliot, which of course raises the question, ‘Who’s the daddy?’
Could it be Jimmy (Nick Miles) who’s currently suffering amnesia and has no clue about his past?
