EastEnders & Shameless star Jody Latham due in court over cannabis farm!

It would seem that soap actors are going to pot these days, because not only is former Emmerdale star Seamus Gubbins possibly facing jail for cultivating marijuana plants, former EastEnder – and Shameless – actor Jody Latham has also allegedly been caught growing cannabis.

Maybe they can be jointly charged. Joint… get it? Ahh gotta love a good play on words, and yes, I realise that wasn’t in fact a good play on words.

However, the Daily Mail reports that Jody – who played evil pimp Rob Grayson in ‘Enders and wide boy Lip in Shameless – was arrested after 25 cannabis plants were discovered on property he owns in Bacup, Lancs.

It seems police made the discovery having been called to the property over a report of a possible affray in which one man sustained a black eye. No further action was taken over that incident… Read more & comment »

Eastenders: Jody Latham loves playing bad boys

Jody Latham has admitted that he loves to play villainous characters.

The 29-year-old actor – who recently starred in ‘EastEnders’ as bad guy Rob Grayson, who forced Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) into prostitution – revealed that he likes to play bad guys because those characters are well remembered by viewers.

He said: “I always say it’s better to play the bad guy – everyone remembers the bad guy. They get the best endings.

“I had an absolutely great time on ‘EastEnders’. It was a breath of fresh air. Everyone was laid back and everybody gets on so well. It’s very friendly.”

Jody Latham to join Eastenders cast?

Jody Latham, best known for his portrayal of Lip Gallagher in Chanel 4’s Shameless, is set to join Eastenders as Whitney Dean’s (Shona McGarty) new boyfriend, Rob.

Whitney will meet Rob after falling out with her family and running away and he is the key influence who will exploit her by convincing her to start prostituting herself later on this year.

This story line is bound to stir up the not particularly settled can of worms recently opened by the huge public disgust at the Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) and Ronnie Branning’s (Samantha Womak) recent baby swap storyline, but Eastender’s bosses are defending the decision to cover such a controversial plot, insisting it is being shown to help bring awareness and support to child grooming and exploitation and is backed by comic relief, who have helped devise a ten minute episode to be shown on red nose day.
